Centre for microFinance (CmF) (http://www.cmfraj.org/ ), is a not for profit organization set up jointly by a group of development practitioners and academicians in conjunction with the Tata Trusts, Rajasthan state government departments and NABARD in the year 2007. It was conceptualized as a resource organization to catalyse the growth of the community-based microfinance and rural livelihoods in Rajasthan. Since 2015, it expanded its domain to multiple themes – education, nutrition and WASH with the objective of enhancing quality of life of the underprivileged rural communities. CmF’s strategic role across its thematic focus areas is to demonstrate field-level models, generate evidence and knowledge, provide technical support and capacity building to stakeholders and collaborate with development partners and research institutions to strengthen and scale effective approaches.
In education, CmF is making concerted efforts to create enabling physical environment and contextualized pedagogical processes in government schools and Anganwadis so that children enjoy the process of learning and develop strong foundational and elementary stage learning skills. CmF is working with and extending technical support to the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Rajasthan Council of School Education (RCScE), Samagra Shiksha (SMSA), Rajasthan State Council of Education Research and Training (RSCERT), Rajasthan Grameen Aajeevika Vikas Parishad (RGAVP) for strengthening the education and nutrition specific interventions in the state. CmF is deepening its education work in select districts, with the aim to demonstrate scalable models on the ground and leveraging evidence and expertise to catalyse the systemic adoption of these successful practices for long-term, sustainable change.
The STEM project titled “Demonstrating Quality Secondary Education in Government Schools Reaching Marginalized Students in South Rajasthan” aims to strengthen the quality of teaching and learning in government schools in Grades 6-10 through a demonstration model focused on improving classroom practices, teacher support and student learning. The project includes focused interventions in STEM subjects (Science and Mathematics), Language learning (English and Hindi), Digital technology-enabled learning and Vocational Education.
CmF is looking for skilled professionals to bring change in the quality of life of poor through education interventions with significant and sustainable changes in functioning of Schools and learning status among children. We are inviting applications for the following positions/roles:
Position: Technical Expert – Vocational Education
Positions: Multiple
Locations: Sirohi (Abu Road) and Dungarpur (Jhonthri)
Salary: It would be competitive with market considering relevant experience, current and past CTC & professional qualifications.
Job Description: The Technical Expert – Vocational Education will support the Vocational Education program implementation in the assigned block.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the vocational education program in the assigned block, in coordination with the program team and relevant stakeholders.
- Support delivery of the vocational education curriculum (Kaushal Bodh and Kaushal Vikas) and integration of vocational learning with relevant subjects.
- Mentor and handhold teachers/instructors and Program Executives through co-planning, classroom/lab observations, demonstration, feedback and follow-up support.
- Demonstrate experiential, hands-on, project-based learning approaches to strengthen practical skills, innovation and application in real-life contexts.
- Ensure effective use of vocational labs and other learning resources – tools, equipment, kits, maker-space resources and other available learning materials.
- Organise and facilitate vocational education trainings, workshops, events and peer-learning activities at block and cluster levels and relevant system-level capacity building engagements.
- Develop, document and adapt vocational teaching-learning resources and support career awareness and exposure activities – learning plans, practical resources, interactions with professionals and exposure to relevant technical institutions and industries.
- Support and ensure timely submission of MIS and reports on key outreach, outcome and impact indicators to meet reporting requirements. Provide field-level support for assessments and surveys to gather & analyse data from the assigned block.
- Identify the design and quality related issues, discuss them with the Reporting Officer, and propose field-level solutions.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as per project demands. Assist CmF team and ensure convergence of CmF’s other education components.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s/bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical, vocational, engineering, science, agriculture, skill-development or a related discipline from a recognized university/institution.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in vocational education, skill development, professional development or relevant program implementation.
- Strong understanding of school-based vocational education for elementary/secondary Grades.
- Experience in developing and adapting vocational teaching-learning resources and supporting practical, activity-based and project-based learning.
- Prior experience of working with government departments and technical/skills institutions
The candidate should also have
- Good interpersonal and analytical skills & a team player.
- Strong written and oral communication skills (Hindi and English).
- Ability to travel regularly to project sites in remote locations.
- Computer skills – preparation of reports, spread sheets, power point presentation, e-communication etc.
