About SNEHA

SNEHA (Society for Nutrition, Education and Health Action) is a Mumbai-based non-profit working to improve the health, nutrition, and safety of women and children in vulnerable urban communities. Its key programs include Maternal and Child Health, Adolescent Health, Prevention of Violence against Women and Children, Public System Partnership, and Palliative Care. Between 2016 and 2025, SNEHA directly reached over 620,555 people and indirectly impacted 3.63 million people across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

About the Program
The Prevention of Violence against Women and Children program focuses on preventing gender-based violence, empowering women, supporting survivors in accessing protection and justice, and strengthening coordination with government systems and communities.

Position: Community Organizer

Location: Govandi

Education: Minimum SSC

Experience: At least 3 years of NGO experience; experience working with GBV survivors is desirable.

Reports to: Program Officer

Key Responsibilities
1. Mobilize and engage community volunteers in health, nutrition, and GBV activities.
2. Form and strengthen community groups, including Gat members, and encourage collective community action.
3. Coordinate with Health Posts, ICDS, police, NGOs, CBOs, and other stakeholders.
4. Conduct community meetings, awareness sessions, and campaigns.
5. Undertake field visits, household mapping, and beneficiary registration.
6. Maintain beneficiary data in CommCare, prepare case stories, and manage reports and activity calendars.

Key Requirements
1. Strong communication, interpersonal, and community mobilization skills.
2. Basic understanding of gender equality, women’s rights, and GBV.
3. Empathy, a non-judgmental approach, and strong ethical values.
4. Basic computer skills and ability to maintain digital records.
5. Willingness to travel for fieldwork and work beyond regular hours or on weekends when required.
