About the Project: With the support of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (GFATM) and guidance from the Central TB Division, will be implementing; (a) Integrated Pediatric TB care services in both the public and private health sectors to increase pediatric TB case detection and improve treatment outcomes, and (b) Active Case Finding (ACF) for early detection of missing TB cases among key and vulnerable populations, using innovative AI-enabled portable X-ray devices. SAATHII is the Principal Recipient of the grant and TB Alert India (TBAI) is the SR for implementation in state of Telangana.
TB Alert India seeking application for the post of District Project Coordinator (DPC) based at district headquarter of the implementation district to lead implementation of project "Decentralizing Pediatric TB Care Services in Public & Private Health Sector and enhance case detection through ACF with Handheld X-Ray across selected geographies/districts of the state.
Project Duration: 3 years up to March 2027
Reporting to: State Technical Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of project activities at the district level.
- Conduct the situational assessment activities during project initiation and update them on a periodic basis.
- Mapping of public and private health facilities, and informal practitioners in the district that provide pediatric services, and engage them through technical support activities.
- Facilitate the establishment of Hub sites in Public and Private identified facilities and ensure the proper functioning of the same.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and departments associated with children including government departments of school education, women and child welfare, RBSK/RKSK, health and nutrition etc. for increasing access to pediatric TB services.
- Build rapport and advocacy at the taluk /block level with the officials of Department of Health and Family Welfare, Women and Child Development, RBSK/RKSK and other relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate and ensure for the sample transportation for all the identified persons with Presumptive TB in the Hub Sites.
- Conduct capacity building and sensitization of frontline healthcare providers and TB champions.
- Coordinate with NTEP for contact tracing, arranging camps, and participating in ACF activities.
- Engage the TB Champions for raising community awareness and mobilization, addressing stigma and follow-up of the adherence tracking and documenting their contributions.
- Follow a robust tracking mechanism of the diagnosed TB cases in the hub sites for their diagnosis, treatment adherence and ensure its completion successfully.
- Maintain records, collect data, and compile program activity information, while also attending NTEP and health meetings at both block and district levels.
- Document the progress of performance indicators outlined in the project and represent them in various community and block forums.
- Regular field visits to monitor and support project activities at the community with ASHA, AWW, at the primary level with AAM and PHC, and secondary/tertiary-level healthcare facilities to understand the good practices and gaps in pediatric TB service provision.
- Conduct visits to private sector pediatric facilities, either separately or joint visits with PPSA towards increasing the private sector pediatric TB reporting.
- Engage private sector stakeholders including professional medical associations.
- DPC will cover the neighboring two districts in a phased manner in Years 2 and 3 to saturate the public and private sector activities in the neighboring districts. The assigning of the neighboring districts will be decided in consultation with State TB Office.
- Undertake any other activities and responsibilities as reasonably required by the project and organization.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Postgraduate/Graduate in Social Work/Social Science/public health/management with a minimum 3-4 years of experience of implementing health related programs at the district level, preferably in TB.
- Understanding of the TB or any public health program, public health systems, and private health sector functioning is essential.
- Ability to engage with stakeholders from multiple sectors of government, private health care providers, civil society and communities at district level.
- Familiarity with experience using excel and using project data in program management.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, and working knowledge of regional language.
- Willingness to be based in district headquarters, and frequent travel to project geographies and to state headquarters for trainings and meetings.
- Basic knowledge & practice of computer skills, including use of Internet, MS Office (Excel/Word & PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as a team player in a complex, multicultural environment.
