About the Project

NIPUN Maharashtra is a statewide initiative focused on improving Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) in government schools.

VOPA, in partnership with SCERT Maharashtra, has built and deployed a technology platform that supports large-scale FLN assessments, teacher participation, and governance dashboards.
The platform currently reaches 40+ lakh students across Maharashtra, enabling evidence-based insights on children’s reading, writing, and numeracy abilities.

The project sits at the intersection of education, technology, and public systems transformation.

About the Role

The Project Lead will be responsible for overall leadership and coordination of the NIPUN Maharashtra platform and implementation ecosystem.
This includes managing the intersection of technology systems, government coordination, field implementation, and data-driven decision-making.
The role requires someone who can navigate complex public systems while maintaining operational clarity and impact focus.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Government and Institutional Coordination
• Work closely with SCERT Maharashtra and state-level officials
• Coordinate with district and block education officers
• Support alignment between technology systems and state priorities

Program Leadership
• Lead implementation of NIPUN assessment cycles across the state
• Ensure smooth coordination between technology, program, and field teams
• Monitor program progress and resolve operational bottlenecks

Data and System Strengthening
• Use dashboards and data insights to improve implementation quality
• Support analysis of learning outcomes and trends
• Ensure data reliability and evidence-based decision-making

Team Leadership
• Guide and mentor the internal NIPUN team
• Build systems of accountability and ownership
• Coordinate with technology, program, and support teams

Strategic Development
• Identify opportunities to strengthen FLN systems in Maharashtra
• Support partnerships with institutions, foundations, and knowledge partners
• Contribute to the long-term vision of the platform

Desired Qualifications & Skills

• Has 7–12 years of experience in education, public systems, or development sector programs
• Has experience working with government education systems
• Is comfortable managing large-scale programs and multi-stakeholder coordination
• Can interpret data and dashboards to guide decisions
• Has strong problem-solving ability in complex environments
• Demonstrates mission alignment with improving public education
