Scope of work
The Field organizer for migrant worker community engagement, based in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu will conduct outreach to and work with garment workers on labour rights to improve their working and living conditions.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Build relations with migrant garment workers in Tirupur and close by villages.
- Assist migrant garment workers in identifying and addressing their workplace challenges, including labor rights violations.
- Coordinate and mobilize garment workers for trainings and meetings.
- Assist in primary data collection for research purposes.
- Travel as required to Bangalore, Chennai to meet partner organizations.
- Organize and facilitate trainings to build capacity in case documentation and social dialogue for partners.
- Develop case studies, conduct field analysis and write reports.
Qualification and Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, public policy, and women’s studies.
- Knowledge of labor laws, ethical practices, and gender equality.
- A willingness to travel extensively (intercity and interstate) for field visits.
- Excellent written and spoken knowledge in Hindi and English
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen and communicate effectively.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently within agreed framework.
- Ability to maintain focus in a multifarious work environment; comfortable with deadlines and field obligations.
- Integrity, professional discretion, and ability to handle sensitive or confidential matters.
Remuneration:
INR 15,000 – 25,000 consolidated monthly salary negotiable based on experience and qualification. In addition, a monthly travel allowance will be paid.
