Associate- Communications
Job Title: Associate - Communications
Place: Bengaluru, Karnataka
Reports to: Manager – Communications
Job Description of the Position
The Communications Associate will work with the Manager, Communications and the project teams to support and deliver the project’s requirements. This role will involve supporting the development of communication materials and strategies, assisting in the preparation of project reports, and contributing to the timely dissemination of information to relevant stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and support in creation and adaptation of IEC and communication materials, ensuring alignment with organisational branding and project objectives.
- Identify and analyse communication needs and gaps in IEC, BCC, and interpersonal materials across project geographies.
- Support implementation of community-level communication activities related to NCD prevention, screening, and management and communication activities and monitor outreach indicators.
- Document lesson learnt, best practices, and case studies related to specific learnings for wider dissemination.
- Support the Communications Manager in drafting crisp reports by providing relevant information.
- Strengthening communication capacities of field teams through guidance, mentoring, and review support.
- Ensure adherence to organisational policies on consent, privacy, ethical image use, and data protection.
- Coordinate with ASHAs, NGOs, and partners for outreach activities.
- Any other relevant tasks
Qualifications Required:
- Master’s degree in Mass Communication/PR/ Journalism or other relevant communications-related qualification, or in social work.
- 4-5 years of experience in communication roles, preferably in the development or public health sector.
Desired profile of the candidate:
- Excellent writing and editing skills are essential, with the ability to translate stories, data and statistics into compelling statements of Americares work and impact
- Strong writing, research and oral communications skills are essential, with proofreading and/or editing capabilities a plus
- Relationship management, consulting and vendor management skills.
- Proven ability to develop and implement communications programs in support of business objectives.
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and adherence to deadlines
- Experience coordinating print publications.
- Proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Photoshop, Coral Draw, Canva or other desktop publishing is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work across all levels of an organisation.
- Proven ability to work effectively and independently, but also to serve as an effective member of a team.
- Nonprofit experience desirable, an interest in international development and humanitarian aid.
- Well spoken Kannada, reading and writing for Kannada language is a must
- Should be a good team player.
- Willingness to travel to project locations.
