Brief Job Description:
1. Strengthening Quality of Projects implemented by VCF
The technical expert will be responsible for reviewing existing designs, developing new interventions, and monitoring their rollout on the ground. S/He should be staying informed about the latest research, trends, and best nutrition practices, which will be critical to ensuring that programs remain relevant and effective.
• Design, develop, and implement nutrition programs aligned with VCF’s mission.
• Developing SoPs and guidelines at state level
• Utilize data-driven strategies to improve nutrition outcomes for high-need groups.
• Stay current with research and best practices to ensure program effectiveness.
2. Capacity Building
Support a diverse team of field staff and program officers, fostering a supportive and results-oriented environment. A significant part of the role will involve developing training programs and capacity-building activities to enhance the team's effectiveness and professional growth. Cultivating a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and innovation will drive performance and ensure the team can meet program objectives.
• Developing training modules for various cadres in the project
• Organizing and facilitating training and capacity-building programs to enhance team performance and professional development.
3. Stakeholder Engagement
A key component of the role will involve building and maintaining partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders, including government agencies, local health departments, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and private sector partners. S/He will guide and lead VCF in various meetings with health officials, donors, and community leaders to provide technical inputs for nutrition programs. Additionally, ensuring that all projects align technically with government policies, particularly from ICDS and WCD, will be essential in supporting the state's nutrition goals.
4. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)
S/He will be responsible for designing tools for monitoring the project, guiding the evaluation teams in conducting baseline, midline, and endline studies, and helping respective teams in documentation of the project. S/He will also be helping the MIS team in utilizing the data generated by the system on a real-time basis. Helping VCF in the data-driven decision-making process.
• Develop and manage systems for tracking milestones, indicators, and outcomes.
• Conduct regular data reviews to monitor progress and adjust strategies.
• Prepare reports on achievements and insights for stakeholders, including funders and government agencies.
5. Knowledge Building of the Institution/Project Team
S/He will be responsible for building the subject knowledge of the institution and project teams and enhancing the capability of VCF to lead/scale the projects in the future across various geographies.
6. Community Engagement and Advocacy
Engaging with community members will be critical for raising awareness about nutrition and fostering health-seeking behaviors. S/He will support the advocacy efforts of VCF to address specific nutritional challenges while promoting evidence-based practices. Strengthening local capacities through community mobilization and awareness campaigns will help sustain improvements in nutrition at the grassroots level.
• Engage with community members to raise awareness and encourage health-seeking behaviors.
• Support is needed for designing IEC contents and BCC campaigns.
• Lead advocacy efforts to address nutritional challenges and promote evidence-based practices.
• Strengthen local capacities through community mobilization and awareness campaigns.
7. Perform other duties as required to align with organizational priorities or donor requirements.
Budget Period: 7 months (Till Oct’26)
Key Deliverables:
• Successful implementation of nutrition programs within defined timelines.
• Integration of food fortification into all relevant program strategies.
• Measurable program impact through enhanced dietary diversity and SAM/MAM recovery rates.
• Development of SoP and guideline on suggested work
• Development of new partnerships annually.
• Capacity-building initiatives are conducted for all program teams.
• Timely submission of program and financial reports.
Experience:
• A minimum of 10–12 years of experience in public health nutrition or related fields.
• Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and managing large-scale nutrition programs, including malnutrition management (CMAM, MIYCN) and food fortification.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with government stakeholders, donors, and technical partners to align programs with national and state policies.
• Track record of managing multidisciplinary teams and driving capacity-building initiatives.
• Experience in program monitoring, evaluation, and reporting using data-driven approaches to assess impact and refine strategies.
• Experience of implanting new projects, developing SoPs, guidelines at state level
Qualifications:
• A Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Home/Community Science, Social Work, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• MBBS/BDS with MPH.
