Position: Project Manager – Agriculture & Livelihoods
Location: Tamar Block, Ranchi District, Jharkhand

About the Organisation:
Development Focus is a development organisation working since 2006 to support underserved children, youth, and communities across Jharkhand, Odisha, and North Karnataka. The organisation focuses on sustainable livelihoods, community empowerment, education, and strengthening local institutions, with a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and grassroots development.
Project Background:
The position is for an agriculture-based development project aimed at strengthening sustainable livelihoods of tribal communities through climate-resilient and community-driven approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead overall project planning, implementation, and monitoring of agriculture and livelihood interventions
• Manage and mentor the project team, ensuring effective coordination and performance
• Facilitate community mobilisation and strengthen community-based institutions
• Ensure timely preparation of project plans, field-level execution, and regular monitoring
• Oversee documentation, reporting, and MIS management in line with organisational and donor requirements
• Build relationships with stakeholders, including community leaders, local institutions, and partners
• Undertake frequent field visits to support and review project activities
Required Qualifications & Experience:
• Master’s degree in Rural Development, Agriculture, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience at a managerial level in development projects
• Prior experience in livelihood programmes; preference for agriculture-based livelihood projects
• Strong skills in project management, team leadership, and community engagement
• Experience in reporting, documentation, and MIS systems
Required Attributes & Skills:
• Strong commitment to human values, community development, and social impact
• Sensitivity and respect towards local culture, traditions, and community ethos
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and in rural/field settings
Language Requirement:
• Proficiency in Hindi and English is essential
• Knowledge of local tribal languages will be an added advantage
Other Requirements:
• Willingness to travel frequently to field areas
• Willingness to join at the earliest
Job Nature:
• Project-based contractual position
• Initial contract for one year, extendable based on satisfactory performance
