About the role
 
The Senior Program (SPM) will be responsible for implementation of Project Parivartan activities. Reporting to the Project Lead, the SPM will lead the planning and implementation of project activities working closely with a team of clinical pharmacists and infection prevention to support and improve IPC and AMS practices in public health facilities in the state of Goa. Key activities in the project include the implementation of hospital-acquired infection surveillance and the implementation of quality improvement projects across the facilities. The position also works closely with project implementation partners Goa Medical College, Directorate of Health Services and other stakeholders. The candidate must have a strategic mindset and implementation focus. 
 
What will You Do in this role (Roles and Responsibilities)
  • Develop quarterly and annual project implementation plans.
  • Oversee implementation of the workplan, monitor progress and revise plans as required. 
  • Supervise, support and work with facility-based project staff to follow up on deliverables, set weekly meetings, develop agendas for the meetings, facilitate communications with the group
  • Facilitate and contribute to the development of site-specific quality improvement plans in consultation with facility leadership and staff to deliver outcomes on time and within budget.
  • Work with Project Lead and M&E team to develop routine data collection tools and assist in interpreting the data. 
  • Support the Project Lead in engaging with implementation partners to design and implement training programs on AMS and IPC for various cadre of health care providers and other system level interventions.
  • Prepare materials for presentations and briefings and deliver formal and informal presentations, as assigned. 
  • Contribute to the preparation of regular reports and presentations on the project progress for donors and stakeholders
  • Contribute to budget oversight and the financial management of project activities
  • Build and maintain relationships with implementing partners and health facility leadership.
  • Work closely with technical and support teams in Americares Foundation, USA and Mumbai office. 
  • Day-to-day implementation across facilities
  • Supervision and coordination of field-based staff
  • Translating strategy into actionable facility-level plans
  • Monitoring milestones, data and deliverables
  • Escalating risks and resolving operational challenges We are looking for someone who has:
  • A medical doctor with a master’s degree in public health/ health administration/healthcare management/ business management/ epidemiology, with 8-10 years of program management experience in health.     
  • Experience working on health systems strengthening projects supporting quality improvement and provision of technical assistance. 
  • Experience working effectively with a variety of stakeholders, government counterparts, facility administrators, doctors, consultants, nursing staff and other health care providers at central and local levels, especially with national and provincial hospitals.
  • Previous experience of managing health projects or health facilities.  
  • Proven experience as program manager or other managerial position with NGOs or other organizations implementing health programs
  • Experience with delivery and implementation of antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention and control programs.
Skills and Competencies
  • Good understanding of public health systems 
  • Demonstrated Planning, organizing, analysis, report writing, presentation and communication skills. 
  • Proven ability to work well with multiple stakeholders and diverse teams and to bring teams to consensus on recommendations for technical practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel (with Macro), and PowerPoint. Ability to work on data management/analysis software would be an advantage
  • Excellent analytical, writing and communication skills
  • A commitment to excellence and demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, with balanced focus on personal accountability and team goals
  • Demonstrates initiative and follow-through and is self-motivated in the completion of deliverables in a deadline driven environment
