SUMMARY OF THE OVERALL JOB
The Model Schools initiative aims to provide access to high-quality holistic school education in rural Bangalore at the block level, promoting excellence and all-round development among students. The primary objective of Model Schools is to ensure high-quality education at the block level, creating centers of excellence that inspire educational growth. The holistic development of students is a central goal, encompassing academic, co-curricular, and personal growth aspects. Schools that enables all children to attend regularly, learn, effectively and graduate.
KEY FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Planning & Implementation:
• Lead the overall planning and execution of the project including working on SAP, Creation of budgets and project timelines, ensuring clarity on scope, timelines, and deliverables
• Manage project budgets effectively, ensuring optimal utilisation of resources
• Identify potential risks and proactively plan mitigation strategies
• Ensure quality standards are maintained across all interventions
• Maintain proper documentation and records for all project activities
• Track progress against timelines and ensure timely completion of activities
• Support the Manager – Program in donor reporting and ensure quality and timely submissions
• Promote cost-effective approaches across project implementation
Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination:
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with district and block-level government stakeholders, especially the Education Department, Samagra Shiksha, and Panchayati Raj Institutions
• Coordinate with school authorities, teachers, and School Development and Monitoring Committees (SDMCs), DDPI, BEO etc
• Facilitate donor visits and other stakeholder engagements in project locations
Technical Support & Capacity Building:
• Lead capacity-building initiatives for teachers, school leadership, and local education stakeholders
• Organise workshops and training sessions in areas such as digital learning, school governance, and child-centred pedagogy
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies across all activities
• Support research, documentation, and learning initiatives within the project
Additional Responsibilities:
• Ensure adherence to all statutory and organisational requirements
• Take on any additional responsibilities as assigned by the reporting manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
• Education: MA Sociology, MSW, MBA
• 7-10 Years’ experience
• Team management, planning and reporting
• Effective communication, both written and verbal in English, Hindi and Kannad, to convey project requirements, updates, and changes to the team and donor.
• Strong leadership skills to guide and motivate the project team, and to make critical decisions.
• Essential computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• A good understanding of the education sector, policies, model school.
