The position holder shall be responsible to adhere & work within the ambit of Plan India’s Safeguarding Policy & Gender Equality Policy.

SUMMARY OF THE OVERALL JOB

The Model Schools initiative aims to provide access to high-quality holistic school education in rural Bangalore at the block level, promoting excellence and all-round development among students. The primary objective of Model Schools is to ensure high-quality education at the block level, creating centers of excellence that inspire educational growth. The holistic development of students is a central goal, encompassing academic, co-curricular, and personal growth aspects. Schools that enables all children to attend regularly, learn, effectively and graduate.

KEY FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Activities in Schools with Child Groups and SMCs:
• He / She shall support in formation of Children Clubs/Parliament in Schools and organizing their regular meetings.
• He / She shall support the School Management Committees to work as per RtE.
• He / She shall make meeting calendar for the sessions, coordinate with school authorities, and encourage the children groups and SMC members for participation in the meetings and working on the agenda.
• Supporting the Children Groups and SMCs for overall planning of meetings during the year for sustainable development activities in the schools.

2. Reporting and Documentation:
• He / She shall be responsible for documenting and making the reports of the sessions.
• He / She shall support the children groups and SMCs for taking the minutes of the meeting and keeping the record.

3. Monitoring of ongoing activities in School:
• As per the requirement of the project, he / she will be assigned responsibilities for looking after day to day activities of the project in the school/s.

4. Other work:
• He / She may be assigned additional responsibilities as per the project requirements.

The main responsibilities of the Project Officer include planning and implementing training and awareness activities, reporting and documenting the impact of the sessions, monitoring ongoing activities in schools, and potentially assigning additional responsibilities as per project requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
• Advanced university degree in Social science or related field.
• Minimum 4-5 years’ experience, with prior experience of working with children
• Experience of developing quality project report and other documents.
• Spoken, reading & written fluency in English, Hindi & Kannad is essential.
• Essential computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Travel Requirement: 80% of the total time.
