The mission of the organization is to nourish lives, empower communities, respond to emergencies and grow the movement towards ending hunger. With the headquarters in Bangalore and Offices in Mumbai, Delhi , Hyderabad & Bhubaneswar , Rise Against Hunger India also works in some of the most remote hard -to-reach locations in Odisha & Jharkh and where Cluster & Field Offices have been set up to work with communities.
 
Functional Summary:
For its community -level program interventions, Rise Against Hunger India has identified several cluster areas across the country with high rates of malnutrition and food insecurity.
 
The Area Office serves as the operational center for planning, coordinating, and managing all field -level program activities within the cluster area. The Area Manager will lead a team of approximately five to six district -level staff and will oversee program implementation across all districts in the area, ensuring effective coordination, timely execution, and quality delivery of programs.
 
Areas of responsibility
  • Planning and development of strategies to address hunger and malnutrition in the assigned area, in coordination with a team of district -level staff.
  • Travel extensively across districts to identify and build partnerships with local institutions, NGOs, and stakeholders for collaborative interventions on hunger and malnutrition.
  • Ensure effective implementation of community empowerment projects in line with agreed timelines, deliverables, and partner commitments.
  • Lead program implementation directly and through partner organizations to achieve impact in hunger and malnutrition reduction across the Area.
  • Oversee the management of the Rise Against Hunger India Cluster Office and Guest House, ensuring efficient operations and high standards of maintenance.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of field activities, outcomes, and learnings, and submit quarterly progress reports to the Regional Program Manager.
  • Build and strengthen partnerships with institutions and organizations to enable continuous engagement and program scale -up.
  • Lead ongoing Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) of all projects implemented within the Cluster Area.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, processes, and operational guidelines.
  • Coordinate with other Rise Against Hunger India programs for alignment and support within the Cluster Area.
  • Liaise with functional teams including Finance, Operations, Communications, and Donor Relations for smooth implementation and reporting.
Qualification s and Experience
  • A master’s degree in a development discipline with 3 years of development work experience and leading a team
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience on food security, food and nutrition, safety, agriculture, etc.
  • Experience in operations and project management will be an advantage
  • Must have prior experience of report writing, proposal development
  • Must be open and flexible to travel and demanding work schedules – including working on weekends if required
Key Competencies required
  • Must have f ield affinity and ground level understanding of food security and hungerissues in India
  • Willingness to manage things independently and deliver results, sometimes in difficult and unknown circumstances
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a go -getter attitude
  • Ready to step in any circumstances and be part of the team
  • Proficiency in English & Hindi – both oral & written
