Ek Tara is a registered trust based in Kolkata working towards the holistic development of marginalized children and women in the slums of Topsia and Tiljala. Our vision is to ensure that every child receives an excellent education to realize their full potential. The Ek Tara Learning Centre runs academic, co-curricular, and parental engagement programmes for over 1,000 children. We also work closely with government schools (KMC/SSM) to strengthen foundational learning systems. Role Overview
The Senior Manager – Accounts will be responsible for ensuring strong financial governance, statutory compliance, and efficient financial operations at Ek Tara. The role requires driving financial planning, reporting, and systems improvement while supporting organizational decision-making.
A highly accountable and ethical finance professional who brings strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability. Someone who can translate financial data into clear insights for non-financial stakeholders, collaborates effectively across teams, and takes a proactive, solution-oriented approach to strengthening systems and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Compliance
Ensure timely and accurate completion of all statutory compliances (GST, TDS, FCRA, audits, etc.)
Maintain 100% adherence to financial timelines and regulatory requirements
Oversee audits, returns, and financial documentation

Financial Planning & Reporting
Prepare and share monthly MIS, financial reports, and analysis with leadership
Track organizational financial health and provide quarterly insights
Support budgeting processes across departments

Systems & Process Strengthening
Streamline financial processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
Strengthen internal controls and reconciliation systems (TDS, GST, etc.)
Drive adoption of tools/software for better financial management

Stakeholder & Cross-functional Support
Act as a finance partner to program and operations teams
Enable smooth financial processes across departments
Present financial insights in a clear, actionable manner

Strategic Support
Contribute to organizational decision-making through financial insights
Support leadership on financial strategy and planning

Qualifications & Experience
Chartered Accountant / M.Com / equivalent
5 –10+ years of experience in accounts/finance (NGO experience preferred)
Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, FCRA, and compliance frameworks
Experience in MIS reporting, audits, and financial systems
