Job Description for Assistant Community Development Trainer

CORD is a National Organization working on comprehensive integrated rural development for the past four decades with its National Director's office and the CORD Training Centre located in Sidhbari, Himachal Pradesh. Its multi-pronged programs on various issues have organically and spirally evolved with active community participation. Currently CORD is actively working in ten states. CORD is looking for young and dynamic persons/candidates to lead it's comprehensive and integrated development program empowering rural marginalized sections under the following domain.

1) Assistant Community Development Trainer (Four Positions)
Candidates need to be well read and proficient in Hindi and English with capability and a desire to live, love and work in the field for rural India's development. Preference will be given to candidates speaking native languages (Bengali, Odia, Ho) of specific site locations mentioned below. They must have adequate knowledge/experience in working with rural communities along with availability of local resources and use of online training portals to motivate and develop leadership at the grassroots. Candidates must have the ability for independent/critical documentation, reporting and achieving program's goals on a timely basis. Leadership qualities with strong communication/commitment and interpersonal skills are essential. Computer skills with reasonable speed in typing and analysing data, research understanding at grassroot are proficiencies that are mandatory for the candidates.

2) Desirable essential qualification
* Candidates must be Post Graduate/Graduate with minimum three-five years of relevant professional experience.
* Commitment to serve with organization for at least two years.
* Candidate must be willing to stay on site and undertake extensive field visits.
* Candidates should be acquainted with local availability of resources and marketing skills to train and motivate the local communities to take up livelihood activities.
* Comprehensive understanding of community's socio-economic conditions/needs and issues.
* Candidates must be familiar with CORD's principles, vision, mission, cultural heritage and core objectives.
* Experience with demonstrated independent leadership capabilities would be preferred.
* A basic proficiency creating documents/reports using Microsoft Office package.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Fluency in written and spoken communication both in English and Hindi.
* Local candidates with desirable experience/qualification will be given preference.

3) Job description
* Work with the inclusive community institutions of rural people with special emphasis on their capacity building and their access to rights and entitlements.
* Facilitate capacity building of community institutions in livelihood, local self- government like Upgramsabhas and Gramsabhas in Panchayati Raj, microcredit through Self Help Groups (SHGs), livelihoods in farm and allied sector and non-farm and service sector, activities groups and production and retails outlets for backward and forward linkages. Besides these programs other programs of CORD are health, nutrition, sanitation hygiene, empowerment of persons with disability, social justice, gender and legal aid, natural resource management are some of the other programs of CORD in which a Fellow could contribute.
* Conduct baselines, socio-economic studies and analysis of the area and contribute to the ascertaining needs of the local people/area in participatory manner.
* Networking with various governments, NGOs and agencies working in the area of rural development and allied sector.
* Effective implementation of CORD's program in collaboration with various agencies and stakeholders.
* Action based research and implementation of program in synergy with rural communities.
* Design and implement various innovative program ideas.
* Feedback and monitoring of various program initiatives.
* Any other specific assignment as per program vision and its organic evolution.

Remuneration: Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000 per month. Final remuneration to be decided on performance, experience and dedication towards work. Annual increment as per work performance and achievements
