About Chimple: Chimple is a product of Sutara Learning Foundation whose mission is to build a gamified, personalized and adaptive learning system which guides a child from absolutely no knowledge of the alphabet to a stage where the child can read to learn and perform basic arithmetic. Chimple aims to educate the children of the world using joyful mobile software that encourages self-driven learning. We envision children using the tablet as a lifelong friend on their journey of discovery. We believe that modern technology has a profound influence on learning that has not yet been utilized for learning by children.
Chimple has implemented in-school programs in 128 schools and teacher directed at-home programs in 173 schools across India. Our learning app has been used by more than 125,000 children across India. We have completed multiple Randomized Control Trials (RCTs) which have proven the efficacy of our program. Due to the potential for huge scale up of EdTech solutions, we believe we are just beginning to make an impact and our goal is to reach 1 million children across India in 3 years.
Chimple is among the 5 Finalists in the competitive Global Learning XPRIZE which challenges teams from around the world to develop open source and scalable software that will enable children in developing countries to teach themselves basic reading, writing and arithmetic within 15 months. Chimple is a grantee of Central Square Foundation.
Job Summary
The Curriculum Developer will design and develop engaging, evidence-based, and age-appropriate curriculum content for Chimple’s app aimed at improving foundational literacy and numeracy skills in primary school children. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in curriculum design, instructional strategies, and digital education tools, ensuring alignment with national educational standards and user needs. The role requires collaboration with educators, subject matter experts, and technology teams to create innovative, interactive learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Design and Development
- Design curriculum content for foundational literacy and numeracy, tailored to primary school learners.
- Develop lesson plans, activities, and assessments that align with national and international education standards.
- Ensure content is pedagogically sound, age-appropriate, and culturally relevant.
2. Content Creation for Digital Platforms
- Translate curriculum content into interactive and engaging digital formats, such as videos, games, quizzes, and simulations.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers and developers to ensure content is user-friendly and intuitive for students and educators.
- Incorporate adaptive learning features to meet diverse student needs and learning paces.
3. Research and Alignment
- Stay updated on best practices, trends, and research in foundational literacy and numeracy education.
- Conduct needs assessments and consult with educators to ensure the curriculum addresses on-ground learning challenges.
- Align the app's content with the requirements of the local curriculum, educational standards, and target learning outcomes.
4. Quality Assurance
- Review and edit curriculum materials for accuracy, clarity, and effectiveness.
- Pilot-test curriculum content in classrooms or with target user groups to gather feedback and make improvements.
- Incorporate input from educators, students, and parents to refine the learning experience.
5. Training and Support
- Develop training materials and resources for teachers and facilitators on the effective use of the app.
- Conduct workshops or webinars to support educators in integrating the app into their teaching practices.
6. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, software developers, and field teams.
- Engage with school administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure the app’s content is relevant and impactful.
7. Monitoring and Evaluation
- Develop tools to assess the effectiveness of the curriculum in achieving learning goals.
- Analyze learning data and feedback to continuously improve content quality and effectiveness.
Key Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, or a related field.
Experience:
- Proven experience in curriculum design for primary education, especially in literacy and numeracy.
- Experience in developing content for EdTech platforms or digital learning tools is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of child development and pedagogy.
- Proficiency in instructional design principles and digital content creation.
- Familiarity with technology-based learning tools and platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred: Familiarity with the national curriculum frameworks and local languages (if applicable).
