Positions Overview:
The organization is looking for Assistant Project Officer – Child Right for its child Right and Child Development related project in Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh. These are field based positions based at district headquarter however would be covering the entire district in terms of reach of the project. The person would be working with the community directly with the support of the Community Mobilisers and Animators. The roles demands for intense community based working to create community and activate child protection mechanisms at community level. The person will also be and dealing with the government officials, police, judiciary and elected representatives who are part of the child protection structures at various levels in the district. The main objective of the position is to provide support and strengthen community institutions at village level and activate the child protection structures in the district with the support of the district administration and Prayatn Team members. The person would be reporting to the Project Officer responsible for the execution of the project. The position requires intense field visits in the district as per the work plan.
Specific role and responsibilities:
• Preparing action plans as per organizational requirement for smooth and effective implementation of child rights and protection related activities;
• Facilitate activation of various child protection structures in the district and strengthening of the community level institutions in the target villages;
• Ensuring and facilitating meetings of community level institutions and different structures of child protection in the district;
• Identify the training and capacity building need of the members in the structures at various levels;
• Prepare capacity building plans for the members of Child Protection Structures at different levels;
• Development and procurement of Education Material for members of child protection structures at various levels;
• Establish convergence with various government departments for obtaining required office orders for support to the structures;
• Linkages and convergence with media houses to discuss the child protection related issues;
Requirement:
Candidates should be a post graduate in rural development, Social Work, Social Sciences, Human Rights or in any relevant discipline from a recognized university. Although freshers can also apply but candidates with 4-5 years of work experience on Child Right and Child Protection or working with government structures especially meant for Child Protection would be given preferences.

• Excellent reporting and documentation skills – both in Hindi and English
• The person should have good understanding on structures of Child Protection in the state;
• The person should have sound understanding on laws and legal provisions related to Child Protection;
Nature of Employment:
The selected candidate shall be initially offered a two years contract which may be extended depending upon the performance of the candidate.
Compensation Offered:
Remuneration will be commensurate with education and past experience
