Level 1: The role holder will not have contact with children and/or young people, or access to personal data about children or young people, as part of their work; therefore, a police check will not be mandatory unless the content or location of the role changes, in which case the Child Safeguarding level will be reviewed.
 
Level 2: Either the role holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or they will be working in a ‘regulated’ position (Finance, Monitoring & Evaluation, Legal etc.); therefore a police check will be required.
 
Level 3: The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in programs; or are visiting programs; therefore a police check will be required.
 
ROLE PURPOSE
Main purpose of the role is, to support BRB project team to provide technical support to, design, implement activities under the project to ensure that Bal Raksha Bharat programme goals, objectives and policies are successfully implemented through the projects/programmes at the state level.
SCOPE OF ROLE
 
Scope: To provide door-step primary health services to rural communities of selected Villages in Rattihalli of Haveri district, Karnataka.

Roles & Responsibilities:
 
  • Secure necessary permissions with the Dept. of Health and Family Welfare, WCD Departments of the local government and their overall support and guidance
  • Improve quality and coverage of homebased postnatal care for mother/new born babies – (ensure postnatal care and regular home visits by Frontline health workers)
  • Conducting health education sessions on MNCHN care – (orientation of frontline workers such as, ASHA workers and Anganawadies and Adolescents, students
  • Facilitate community mobilization through Mother committees/Mahaila Arogya Samithi s (MAS), health talks, demonstrations, camps, use of media and young champions on MNCHN care (empowering community members by interaction, demonstration, facilitate discussion of Child Health and nutrition issues, involvement of youth champions etc)
  • Support local health officials in organizing important health events like Breastfeeding week, Newborn week, Global handwashing day, IDCF and SAANS campaigns, Nutrition Maah, etc. (celebration of important days/event in collaboration of government departments for improved awareness and also spreading awareness in community by launching display van, radio campaign, workshop /webinar, organising street play, demonstration camps etc.)  
  • Sharing of project learnings at district/state level during meetings, conferences and end of the project dissemination workshops (dissemination of project learnings and findings of end line assessment to the stakeholders)
  • Ensure BRB programming is based on evidence and results. Quality programming would be ensured through:
  • Monitoring: Regular monitoring of the project activities will remain our focus. Maintain structured and defined monitoring of the project by conducting regular visits, timely meetings, preparing the reports and maintain the team spirit, and able to build the team’s capacities as per the requirements.
  • Project Review Meetings will be conducted on monthly and quarterly basis to review the progress and make necessary recommendations to achieve desired project goals and objectives.  
  • Prepare quarterly /half yearly /annual narrative and financial reports as agreed with the donor’s timeline
  • Facilitate Baseline and End-line in consultation with the technical expertise internally

       QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Registered Medical Practitioner (MBBS/MD/BAMS/BHMS) with Medical Council of India / National Medical Commission / State Medical Council. 

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

At least 1-3 years focussed experience working in health nutrition background working with NGOs, hospital, women and child welfare department, community mobilization or managing projects. 

Networking with other Medical fraternity able to Deploy Doctors during the special health camps with relevant experience in Gynecology / Pediatrics / Dermatology / General Medicine / BDS / Orthopedics on need basis and requirement at the project intervention areas in consultation with Project team.
