JOB TITLE : Project Manager
REPORTING TO : General Manager – Research & LME Team
LOCATION : Anand, Gujarat
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking for a young professional to support legal and policy research in the domains of natural resource governance, biodiversity conservation, and environmental law. The role involves conducting legal and policy research, synthesizing evidence, maintaining legal databases, and contributing to knowledge products and policy discussions. The incumbent will work closely with legal experts, civil society organizations, and academic institutions to strengthen research and practice in natural resource governance.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, or related disciplines.
• 1–3 years of experience in legal research, preferably in natural resources, environmental governance, or the development sector.
• Strong legal reasoning and analytical writing skills.
• Knowledge of environmental and resource governance frameworks in India, South Asia, or comparative contexts.
• Commitment to evidence-based research, collaborative work, and social/environmental justice issues.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential functions but not exhaustive):
1. Conduct in-depth legal and policy research on natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, tenure, and related governance frameworks at national and sub-national levels.
2. Generate and synthesize qualitative and quantitative evidence to support ongoing academic and policy-oriented research projects.
3. Organize and maintain legal databases and documentation systems.
4. Participate in seminars, conferences, and workshops, contributing to discussions and dissemination of research findings.
5. Liaise with partners, including legal practitioners, policymakers, civil society, and academic collaborators.
6. Taking up any other task as deemed fit or as assigned by the reporting officer from time to time.
REMUNERATION & OTHER DETAILS
• FES provides renewable contractual employment and compensation levels and other monetary / non-monetary benefits at FES are considered good within the development sector. The initial contract is for one year which further renewed for much longer terms upon successful completion of one year. The annual remuneration for this position would be in the range of INR 5.5 to 7 lakhs plus performance incentives and other benefits as per the rules.
