MAMTA HIMC is an internationally recognized Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), established in December 1990 in New Delhi. Since inception, MAMTA has promoted strategic solutions, policies, programming, research and global learning in Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Nutrition, Young People's Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, HIV, TB and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), with a special focus on rights, gender equality and equity. MAMTA has a presence across around 20 states in India.
About the Project
Project Swasthya Setu is an integrated, community-based program for the prevention and management of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) — with a specific focus on Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD), Diabetes and COPD — being implemented by MAMTA HIMC across five districts of Telangana: Siddipet, Rangareddy, Khammam, Nizamabad, and Nalgonda. The program targets women aged 18-30 Years (Special) and 30+(General), their families, and community institutions (VHSNCs, SHGs, PRIs) to improve NCD awareness, early detection, and long-term management by strengthening nutritional awareness, caregiver capacity, and alignment with government health systems (NHM, NP-NCD, ICDS/Anganwadi, ABDM).
The program strengthens nutritional awareness and health systems by building the capacity of frontline workers (ASHA, ANM, AWW, CHO, MPW), integrating digital/AI-based screening technology, and aligning closely with government platforms and guidelines including NP-NCD, ABDM, VHSND, and State PIP processes.
Job Purpose
Consultant- Research methodology & Report writing on NCD will facilitate to finalize the project's tools including questionnaires, and lead high-quality technical report writing, drawing on prior experience in mixed-method NCD research.
Roles and Responsibilities
Technical & Research Support
Facilitate the need assessment of Project Swasthya Setu across the five project districts of Telangana, in coordination with the program team.
Facilitate finalization of research and data collection tools, including structured and semi-structured questionnaires, for Need assessment, baseline, formative, and periodic assessments.
Review and strengthen data collection and analysis plans to ensure methodological rigor and alignment with national NCD frameworks (NP-NCD, ABDM).
Report Writing & Documentation
Ensure reports and documents meet MAMTA HIMC and donor quality standards, with accurate referencing of national and state-level NCD literature and data.
Coordination & Capacity Support
Coordinate closely with the Project Director, Domain Expert, state and district teams, and field staff to ensure technical inputs are grounded in field realities.
Undertake any other responsibilities related to research as assigned by the Project Director/ MAMTA Senior Management.
Qualification and Skills Required
PHD, Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Nutrition, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of work experience after Master’s and 5 years post PhD in research in the health sector, with specific and demonstrated experience in Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
Strong technical knowledge of NCDs, specifically Cardiovascular Disease (CVD), Diabetes— including prevention, screening, and management approaches.
Demonstrated experience in conducting or analysing mixed-method (quantitative and qualitative) research on NCDs.
Proven report writing and technical documentation skills, with a portfolio of research reports, need assessments, or similar technical outputs.
Prior experience facilitating need assessments and developing research/data collection tools such as questionnaires.
Familiarity with national and state-level NCD and health system frameworks (NP-NCD, NHM, ABDM) is preferred.
Good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and standard data analysis software/tools.
Excellent written and spoken English; working knowledge of Telugu/Hindi will be an added advantage.
Expectations
Ability to independently lead Need assessment, Baseline within defined timelines during the engagement period.
Strong experience of developing research studies, data analysis and evaluation along with good and technical writing skills.
Willingness to travel to Telangana project districts if required for the need assessment and related field activities.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and ability to work collaboratively with program teams and donor stakeholders.
Commitment to evidence-based, rights-based, and community-participatory approaches to public health programming.
Engagement Duration
This is a short-term consultancy engagement of 15–20 days, based at the MAMTA HIMC Head Office, New Delhi, with travel to Telangana as required for the project activities.
Remuneration
A justifiable and competitive consultancy fee will be offered, commensurate with experience, and finalized during the interview/selection process.
