Job Summary
SPARC-India is looking for a competent and detail-oriented Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting and financial documentation of the organization. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate books of accounts, processing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, supporting statutory compliance, and assisting in donor/project-related financial reporting.
The position requires strong attention to detail, integrity, confidentiality, and the ability to maintain systematic financial records and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management
• Maintain day-to-day books of accounts and financial records.
• Record receipts, payments, expenses, journal entries, and other financial transactions accurately.
• Maintain cash book, bank book, ledgers, vouchers, and supporting documents.
• Prepare bank reconciliation statements and assist in monthly financial closing.
• Monitor and maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions.
• Verify bills, invoices, payment requests, and supporting documents before processing.
• Maintain proper filing and record-keeping of financial documents.
Project & Donor Accounting
• Maintain project-wise income and expenditure records.
• Track budgets and actual expenditure against approved project budgets.
• Assist in preparation of project-wise financial statements and utilization reports.
• Support preparation of donor financial reports and budget statements.
• Ensure that project expenditures are supported by appropriate documentation and approvals.
• Coordinate with programme teams to collect and verify financial documents.
Compliance & Audit
• Assist in maintaining records required for statutory compliance and audits.
• Support internal, statutory, and donor audits by providing required financial records and supporting documents.
• Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of financial documentation.
• Assist in preparation of schedules and supporting documents required by auditors.
• Maintain records related to TDS, GST, PF/ESI and other applicable statutory requirements, as relevant to the organization.
Administrative & Coordination
• Coordinate with banks, vendors, auditors, and other relevant stakeholders as required.
• Support the management in preparing financial summaries and MIS reports.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and organizational information.
• Perform other finance and accounting-related responsibilities assigned by the management.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce / Accounting / Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience, preferably with an NGO/non-profit organization.
• Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial documentation.
• Working knowledge of Tally / Tally Prime and MS Excel.
• Knowledge of statutory compliance and NGO accounting will be an advantage.
• Experience in donor-funded projects and project-wise accounting will be preferred.
Required Skills

Preferred Experience
Preference will be given to candidates having experience in:
• NGO / Non-profit organization accounting.
• CSR-funded or donor-funded projects.
• Project-wise budgeting and expenditure tracking.
• Preparation of utilization certificates and financial reports.
• Audit preparation and statutory compliance.
• Tally Prime and advanced Excel functions.
