Centre for People’s Forestry (CPF) is a non-profit organization working since 2002 for the development of forest and rural communities. CPF strives for realizing the rights, livelihoods and conservation through access, control and management of natural resources in a sustainable way.
 
Programme Officer (PO) – Agriculture and Livelihoods
 
Location: Tiryani Mandal, Kumrambheem Asifabad district, Telangana
 
We are seeking a competent candidate with 3–5 years’ experience in agriculture-related project implementation, farmer training, agro-ecological practices, food security, soil and moisture conservation, livelihoods and forestry. The role involves facilitating Farmer Field Schools, strengthening community institutions, monitoring field activities, liaising with government departments and research institutions, facilitating access to schemes and entitlements, maintaining records, ensuring timely implementation and fund utilization, and preparing project reports and documentation.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Create awareness and facilitate the adoption of agro-ecological practices through Farmer Field Schools and model demonstrations in project villages.
  • Provide technical leadership on sustainable agriculture, agro-ecological practices, agroforestry and Soil and Moisture Conservation (SMC).
  • Conduct regular meetings and field visits to provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to farmers, Project Coordinators (PCs), Community Field Facilitators (CFFs) and lead farmers.
  • Create and strengthen community institutions and build the capacity of farmers and project teams on sustainable agriculture, bio-pesticides, bio-fertilizers and SMC practices and livelihoods.
  • Develop and monitor model demonstrations on agro-ecological practices, agroforestry, soil and water conservation, and native species plantation.
  • Monitor agricultural activities and guide farmers in addressing field-level challenges, including pest management and crop growth.
  • Promote soil testing and facilitate farmers’ access to technical services, government schemes, entitlements and other benefits.
  • Monitor the establishment and functioning of vermicompost units and Bio-Resource Centres and ensure the production and use of quality compost, bio-pesticides and bio-fertilizers.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with the Agriculture, Rural Development, Tribal Welfare, Forest Departments, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, research institutions and other civil society organisations
  • Monitor programme progress, ensure effective utilization of project funds and compliance with organisational systems and approved budgets.
  • Ensure timely implementation of monthly action plans and coordinate effectively with the project team and CFFs.
  • Prepare periodic reports, donor reports and supporting documentation and document project experiences, achievements and learning. 
Qualifications required: Masters in Agriculture / Life Sciences / Forestry / Development studies / Natural Resource Management / Social Sciences
 
Remuneration: CTO – up to Rs.5.4 Lakhs per annum including PF, Gratuity and Health Insurance
