1. Background
UN ORGANISATION Chhattisgarh works with government departments, civil society organisations, academic institutions, youth and volunteer networks, implementing partners and community platforms to strengthen social and behaviour change (SBC) programming for children, adolescents and families.
The Chhattisgarh Alliance for Behaviour Change (ABC) provides a platform for connecting organisations and practitioners working on SBC, facilitating exchange of experiences and encouraging collaboration around priority behaviours affecting children and adolescents. UN ORGANISATION also works with NIT Raipur and other academic and technical institutions to support the use of behavioural insights and evidence within programmes.
Youth and community engagement is an important part of UN ORGANISATION-supported programming in Chhattisgarh. District-level youth and volunteer initiatives provide opportunities to engage young people as partners in positive social and behaviour change. Strengthening the skills of lead volunteers in practical SBC approaches can help these platforms move beyond mobilisation towards listening, dialogue, community action and sustained engagement.
Chhattisgarh has a significant tribal population, including Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), and communities living in remote and post-LWE settings. Programming in these contexts requires locally grounded approaches, community participation and attention to social and behavioural factors that influence participation, trust and access to services. Coordination with the Tribal Welfare Department, UN ORGANISATION programme teams, implementing partners and community-based organisations will therefore form part of this assignment.
