About us: KARRTABYA is a registered voluntary Non-Government Organization. It was formed by a group of young people of Kalahandi in 1990. They believed that social transformation could be brought through dedicated and committed work. Pursuing this, they worked to build up strength among the people of the locality and mobilized them to fight for social justice. This involvement gradually spread to other villages and became more comprehensive in nature. With the growth of understanding, their involvement became more matured and targeted towards various issues of the region. In due course of this involvement, KARRTABYA was formed. The organization is registered under SRA of XXI 1860 in 1992, under FCRA in 1998, 12A & 80G of IT Act.

Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Counsellor to provide mental health support and counselling services to individuals and groups in rural Kalahandi. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of mental health challenges in rural settings, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to empowering adolescent and communities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide individual and group counselling to address mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress, particularly among rural adolescent.
• Conduct community-based mental health awareness programs and workshops to reduce stigma and promote well-being.
• Assess clients’ mental health needs and develop tailored intervention plans.
• Collaborate with local health workers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to integrate mental health services into existing community structures.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with ethical standards.
• Promoter for mental health resources and policies at the community level.
• Provide crisis intervention and referral services as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachler’s degree in Psychology, Counselling.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in mental health counselling, preferably in rural or underserved communities. Prior work with tribal or marginalized communities.
• Knowledge of local languages (Odia mandatory).
• Strong understanding of cultural and socio-economic dynamics in rural, particularly in Kalahandi.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care and community-based mental health interventions.
• Willingness to travel within Kalahandi district and work in resource-constrained environments.
