Summary of Role

 

The Lead -Maternal & Child Health will lead the design, implementation and scale-up of MCH programs to improve outcomes across the RMNCAH+N continuum, with strong ownership, stakeholder engagement and data- driven decision-making. Key duties include program implementation, coordinating with government officials, conducting monitoring & evaluation (M&E), and providing technical expertise, usually requiring a public health degree and field experience.

 

Key Responsibilities-

 

1. Program Design & Strategy

  • Lead planning and execution of MCH programs across geographies.
  • Develop evidence-based interventions aligned with RMNCAH+N priorities.
  • Integrate maternal, new born, child and adolescent health components.  

       2. Program Implementation & Management  

  • Oversee end-to-end program delivery across districts/blocks.
  • Ensure quality implementation at community and facility levels.
  • Strengthen last-mile delivery through frontline workers (ASHAs, ANMs).
  • Monitor timelines, budgets and program milestones.  

        3. Stakeholder Engagement  

  • Build strong relationships with government stakeholders (NHM, district health officials).
  • Coordinate with partners and donors.
  • Facilitate convergence with key government schemes and platforms.  

        4. Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL)  

  • Track key indicators (MMR, NMR, ANC, institutional delivery, immunization, nutrition).
  • Translate data into strategic insights for leadership, donors and government stakeholders.
  • Lead periodic reviews, field visits and facilitate impact assessments.
  •   Document learnings, best practices and case studies.
  • Drive rigorous program reviews and course correction mechanisms.  

       5. Capacity Building  

  • Design and conduct training for healthcare providers and frontline workers.
  • Integrate behavior change communication (BCC) and community engagement approaches into training.  

        6. Innovation & Scale  

  • Identify scalable models and innovations (digital health, teleconsultation, outreach models).
  • Support pilots and scale successful interventions.
  • Increased utilization and quality of MCH services across target geographies.
  • Strong, credible partnerships with government and donors.  

        Qualification, Experience & Skills  

  1. Master’s in public health / social sciences / health management.
  2. 8 years and above experience in public health programs (preferably MCH/RMNCH).
  3. Candidates with experience of working with government systems would be preferred.
  4. Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
  5. Field orientation with problem-solving mindset.
  6. Familiarity with government schemes and digital health platform
