About Harsha Trust
Harsha Trust is a renowned non-profit organization committed to sustainable development, and community empowerment, primarily in Odisha, and Eastern India. For over two decades, we have worked at the grassroots level, focusing on tribal and marginalized communities, to drive transformative change in the areas of livelihoods, natural resource management, health, education, and governance. Our mission is to build resilient communities through participatory approaches, Innovation, and strong local partnerships.
Harsha Trust, with grant support from SBI Foundation, is implementing the 'SBIF LEAP: Climate Smart Livelihoods' project. This ambitious 3-year initiative aims to strengthen the climate resilience and livelihoods of 3,500 households across 70 villages in Kandhamal district covering 3 blocks. The project integrates climate-smart agriculture (CSA), renewable energy (solar), water security (INRM), agroforestry (WADI), and rural enterprise development to create a sustainable and impactful model for tribal communities.
Executive – Project
Key Role & Responsibilities
1. Programme Vision and Community Engagement
- Build adeep understanding and perspective of the programme/project and the community.
- Facilitate articulation of a shared vision for village development and community institutions.
- Implement the mission and development approach of Harsha Trustwithin the project area.
- Establish strong and empathetic relationships with families and community members.
2. Community Mobilization and Institution Building
- Mobilize poor and marginalized families to work collectively towards common development goals.
- Facilitate formation and strengthening of Self Help Groups (SHGs), collectives, and other community institutions.
- Promote collective initiatives and support networking among SHGs and community-based organizations.
- Provide ongoing facilitation and mentoring to ensure sustainability of community institutions.
3. Programme Implementation and Monitoring
- Implement project activities in line with programme plans and organizational strategy.
- Monitor programme implementation in terms of quality, outreach, cost effectiveness, timelines, and development outcomes.
- Facilitate effective implementation of livelihood and community development interventions.
- Support programme teams in achieving project outputs and outcomes.
4. Stakeholder Engagement and Linkages
- Facilitate linkages with government departments, knowledge institutions, and technical agencies.
- Build relationships with relevant stakeholders, community leaders, and local institutions.
- Support communities in accessing knowledge, technology, and development resources.
- Represent Harsha Trust in meetings with local stakeholders and community platforms.
5. Documentation and Knowledge Building
- Document programme experiences, field learnings, and innovative practices.
- Analyse field experiences and contribute to organizational knowledge and learning processes.
- Maintain proper records and support preparation of programme reports and case studies.
6. Team Collaboration and Organizational Processes
- Actively contribute to team processes and collaborative working culture.
- Support other team members in programme implementation and field facilitation.
- Follow and implement organizational policies, systems, and internal processes.
7. Innovation and Learning
- Identify and promote innovative ideas and approachesfor community development and livelihood promotion.
- Encourage experimentation and learning to improve programme effectiveness.
Any other tasks as may be assigned by the organization from time to time.
Qualification and Experience
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Rural Development, Agriculture, Social Sciences, MBA or related fields. 16 years of on-campus academic career.
- Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in NGO / CSR project implementation
- Strong understanding of community mobilization and participatory development approaches.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work with diverse communities and stakeholders.
- Strong commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
Compensation - 40,000 INR CTC per month approx.
