Purpose of the Position:
The Medical Officer for the Mobile Medical Unit is responsible for delivering essential primary healthcare services to communities in remote areas. The role ensures accurate diagnosis and treatment, provides maternal and child health care, oversees on-site diagnostics, guides the MMU team, and maintains proper patient records and reporting. The Medical Officer ensures quality service delivery in line with national guidelines and supports smooth, safe, and efficient functioning of the MMU.

Responsibilities:
• Provide OPD services as per MMU plan for common illnesses, maternal and child health care including antenatal, intranatal and postnatal care.
• Conduct clinical examination, diagnose and treat patients as per national guidelines.
• Coordinate with the nursing staff and support staff and ensure service delivery.
• Ensure on- site investigations/diagnostic tests like Haemoglobin, HbA1C, T3, T4, TSH and random blood glucose
• Ensure proper documentation of referrals and follow-up cases.
• Maintain patient records, treatment registers, drug consumption logs.
• Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly service delivery reports as required.
• Supervise and guide the MMU team

• Support preparation of MMU action plan and service delivery timetable.
• Participate in trainings, review meetings, and capacity-building sessions.
• Ensure protocols for infection prevention, biomedical waste management, and patient safety.
• Maintain cleanliness, infection control, and safe waste disposal in the MMU.

SKILLS:
• Strong clinical judgment and patient-centered care approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for community interaction.
• Ability to lead, guide, and coordinate a multidisciplinary health team.
• Comfortable working in rural or remote locations with frequent travel.
• Proficiency in basic computer operations for documentation and reporting.
• Ability to manage emergencies and make quick, evidence-based decisions.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain records, supplies, and service flow.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• MBBS degree from a recognized and accredited institution.
• Valid registration with the State Medical Council / MCI / NMC.
• 8–12 years of clinical experience, preferably with exposure to public health or rural healthcare settings.
