About Educo
Educo has been working in 18 countries across the globe including India. Educo started interventions in India since 1998 with the aim to create a world where all children fully enjoy their rights and lead a dignified life. Educo in partnership with the local NGOs has reached out benefiting more than 394,547 children and young people since 2018. Over the years, Educo India’s interventions have been carried out in Maharashtra, Odisha and Karnataka States. Presently all programmatic activities are implemented through local partners.
Educo has a long-term vision for development which is guided by the Global Impact Framework (GIF) 2030, Global Programmatic Framework (GPF) 2026-2030 and in the light of GIF and GPF country office level Educo has Country Programmatic Framework (CPF) 2025 and three programs for Education, Protection and Participation/governance. Educo has developed an impact measurement system to consolidate the progress from all 18 countries. Therefore, it is important to see the impact of the child protection projects in the light of CPF and GPF and how these interventions are contributing to the overall vision of Educo. The external evaluation will reflect on Educo’s aims and objectives and highlight the project’s contribution.
The core issues addressed by Educo India and its partners include child marriage, child trafficking, continuity in education, access to quality education, safety in schools and communities, gender-based discrimination, seasonal migration, etc. Educo ensure the timely disbursement of funds as per the approved budget towards the implementation of project activities for the said period. The Partner attempts to leverage other resources including from the government, if necessary, to ensure effective implementation of project services towards children.
Educo has been supporting the People's Rural Education Movement (PREM) since 2021 to reduce child marriage in Kandhamal District, Odisha, and initiated another intervention in 2024 to ensure the overall development of children (0–12 years) in the same region. The current phase of both projects began in 2024, with IN2285 starting on 1 April 2024 and IN2290 on 1 July 2024, and will conclude on 30 June 2026
About implementation partner People's Rural Education Movement (PREM)
- People’s Rural Education Movement (PREM) is a grassroots non-governmental organization working in Odisha, particularly in underserved and tribal regions such as Kandhamal district. Established with a focus on promoting equitable access to education and community development, PREM works closely with children, families, and local institutions to address barriers to learning, child protection, and social inclusion. The organization places strong emphasis on empowering marginalized communities through awareness, capacity building, and participatory approaches.
- Over 44 years, PREM has expanded its interventions to include child rights protection, prevention of child marriage, strengthening of education systems, and holistic development of children. It collaborates with government bodies, local stakeholders, and partner organizations to implement sustainable programs that improve the well-being of children and adolescents. Through its community-driven initiatives, PREM continues to play a vital role in fostering safe, inclusive, and supportive environments for children to grow and thrive.
- With an experienced team based in Daringbadi, many of whom from the same local communities, PREM has been working with same communities and established a strong rapport with local communities and government line departments.
- Educo proposes a joint evaluation of two of its projects implemented by its local partner NGO, PREM. These projects are: “Ensuring Overall Development of Children (0–12 Years) in Kandhamal, Odisha” and “Empowering Children & Adolescents by Ensuring Protection and Education.”
A suitable candidate/agency who possesses:
- Post Graduate Degree/ PhD in the field of Social Science or other similar fields
- 10 years combined experience working on the evaluation of education projects
- Experience in child-friendly methodologies
- Experience in evaluation with a participative approach
- Excellent written and communication skills in English and Odia.
- The candidate must be willing to commit to working with the organization and complete the task by 31st May 2026.
The total budget is up to Rs.5.5 lakhs, covering all expenses, including travel, accommodation, data collection, and report production.
