BBC Media Action:
 
BBC Media Action is the independent international charity of the BBC which uses media to advance development worldwide. To achieve this, we partner with civil society, local media, academia and others to produce creative programmes and content in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences, and to strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity and infrastructure.
 
The India portfolio includes ground-breaking mass media campaigns on HIV/AIDS awareness, condom normalisation, gender equality, bonded labour, tuberculosis and family health. The India office’s mHealth services Kilkari and Mobile Academy have been scaled up by the government nationally and they are now the largest mobile messaging services in the world. In recent years, the India office has produced two TV dramas –AdhaFULLand Navrangi Re!and a web drama Life Navrangi, along with successful, award-winning social media campaigns #BigdiHuiLadki/ Ladkaand #FlushKeBaad.  We are currently engaged in creating and implementing the #Invaluables, a social media campaign to make visible the work of informal wastepickers of Bengaluru as the city’s environmentalists, which has already proved its effectiveness and has won more than one award.

Overall Purpose: 
 
We are seeking a passionate storyteller based out of Bengaluru who understands how social media and content uniquely drive information and action in today’s digital environment. You can be someone fresh out of college or with year ot two of experience.
 
The right candidate will support the end to end production of digital content for social media including pre-production, filming, editing, and post production. 
 
S/he will be also supporting different projects using their social media skills, creating and producing social media and other digital content across platforms. 
 
The Content Producer, working to the Executive Creative Director, will be responsible for output of the highest creative and editorial standard for BBC Media Action social media channels on a weekly basis. 
 
Main Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Go into the field to film and capture stories, conducting interviews and gathering footage as necessary.
  • Support the full production workflow — pre-production, filming and post-production. 
  • Conceptualize, create, edit, and publish engaging content (e.g., original text, photos, graphics, and videos) on different platforms, tailored for each platform's requirements.
  • Source locations, contributors, and production talent.
  • Assist with scripting, storyboarding, idea development and content planning. 
  • Operate filming equipment (camera/phone/gimbal) to capture high-quality footage.

  • Edit videos using tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut or DaVinci Resolve. 
  • Prepare subtitles, captions, thumbnails and platform-specific versions of content. 
  • Coordinate filming logistics, including schedules, travel, equipment, contributors and permissions. 
  • Work across multiple projects simultaneously, managing competing deadlines.
  • Support administrative tasks related to budgets, procurement, documentation and resource management. 
  • Ensure compliance of all digital output with BBC Editorial Guidelines, contractual and copyright requirements, social inclusion strategies, and other relevant policies.
  • Understand and comply with the Safeguarding policy and the staff Code of Conduct.
  • Participate in relevant mandatory training on Safeguarding and Respect at Work.
  • Report any Safeguarding concerns immediately, either to the Country Director or using the Whistleblowing Policy.
  • May be assigned other tasks and duties reasonably related to their job responsibilities.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
 
Essential Criteria:
  • Imaginative, creative, and insightful.
  • Language proficiency – Kannada & English 
  • Agile and responsive.
  • Problem solver with resourcefulness.
  • Experience level can be 0 to 2 years of experience creating content for social media and digital platforms.
  • Experience creating engaging short-form content (reels, shorts, etc.) for social media platforms
  • Familiarity with video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, etc.)
  • Clear understanding of audio-visual production, post-production techniques, and strong storytelling skills.
  • Ability to work effectively on your own and within a team.
  • Understanding of managing the production process in line with organizational policies and processes.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize, manage workload and deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
Desirable:
  • Passionate about communication and storytelling for social change.
  • Collaborative with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet tight deadlines with great attention to detail.
  • Experience working in the media, creative, or non-profit sector, particularly within digital content production or social media Desire to experiment with new technologies and develop excellent digital production skills.

The successful candidate:

  • Will be required to maintain strict data confidentiality. Data transgressions will be dealt through appropriate and applicable organizational policy.
