Sampark a NGO, founded in 1991, with headquarters in Bangalore strives with the mission to stand beside migrant labourers, their children, and rural women, helping them overcome barriers and navigate education, healthcare, legal, and financial systems until they can claim their rights with confidence and dignity. Our areas of work are
• Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) - In Bangalore, 28 centres are set-up in migrant labour colonies to support children of construction workers, providing clean, safe, and fun places for children to play. Since 2007, 66,000+ migrant children supported, with 6,500+ successfully enrolled into public schools for continued education.
• Empower Migrant Workers - 4 Workers Resource Centres and a migrant support helpline raise awareness among migrant workers about entitlements from the Karnataka State Construction and Other Workers Welfare Board and access to health, education, legal, financial, and social security matters. Over 300,000+ migrant workers have accessed government benefits worth Rs 12 Crores, and 863 migrant children have been linked to scholarships.
• Building Women-Owned Institutions - Established 1,609 Self Help Groups and works with 5,200 women across Koppal and Varanasi and women have built savings of Rs 18 Crores.
About Sampark’s Empowerment of Migrant workers project
Sampark creates awareness among migrant workers about their entitlements in health, education, finance, social security and legal aid, and increases access to these entitlements. Workers Resource Centres (WRCs) is the one-stop place for migrant workers for all their information needs and required support to access their entitlements. Sampark runs 4 WRCs in Bangalore and operates a migrant support helpline 080-68972050 to provide them the convenience to access information from anywhere. Various awareness programmes and health camps are conducted at site/labour colonies.
The Mobile Workers Resource Centre (MWRC) project is for raising awareness to migrant workers at worksites and residential areas in Devanahalli, Narasapura, Hoskote, Hosur, and nearby locations. It will deliver inclusive, multilingual outreach welfare outreach, bringing essential knowledge and support directly to first-generation salaried migrant youth in urban work settings. By giving the youth access and awareness to social security and welfare linkage, the project aims to bring social cohesion to their doorstep, enabling workers to make informed decisions for their well-being and future. Anchored in a gender-responsive and inclusive framework, the initiative will strengthen confidence, peer learning, and sustained behaviour change, ultimately enhancing resilience, visibility, and the ability of migrant youth to adapt, grow, and thrive as empowered participants in the urban workforce.
Job Responsibilities
• Organise project activities as per approved implementation plan of providing sensitization on financial literacy, professional development, personal growth, nutrition, and time and stress management to improve overall well-being of migrant workers in Bangalore.
• Prepare interactive ways of delivering training content in various languages with the help of IEC materials developed on topics such as budgeting, digital safety, workplace behaviour, communication, and emotional resilience.
• Map the migrant youth workers residential clusters in and around the business locations at Devanahalli, Hoskote, Narasapura etc.
• Manage the migrant workers helpline number and coordinate for extending required support to the callers for addressing their challenges
• Establish primary linkages with local government departments - Department of Labour, Department of Education, Women and Child Development department, Police, Department of Health and Family welfare and other relevant departments.
• Collect required information and update organisational ERP system for maintaining profiles of migrant workers.
• Support in preparing monthly progress reports and donor related data requirements • Any other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor as per the organisational requirements.
Required Skills and Competencies
• Good communication skills including reading and writing in Kannada, and Hindi is mandatory.
• Ability to deliver engaging learning experiences through mime and role play techniques.
• Ability to be on field for training.
• Proficiency of using MS Office and video /audio devices.
Qualifications
• Bachelor degrees in social work or related field and freshers are encouraged to apply.
