Job Description- Trainer (Gadchiroli, Maharashtra)

Mobile Creches, (MC) a pioneer NGO, has been operational since 1969, providing childcare and health services to more than 15,000 children every year in the National Capital Region, through workplace and community-based crèches and daycare centres, every year.

MC pioneered the cause of Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) and focuses on young children under six years in urban slums and children of migrant workers at construction sites. MC’s multi-pronged approach- providing childcare services to young children at worksites, urban slums, rural and tribal communities, working with parents and communities to amplify the ECD agenda, enhancing linkages with government ECD services, training the ECD workforce, influencing government policies, promoting research in the field of ECD, addressing both the short- and long-term needs of children. It is officially recognized as the National Creche agency by the government and is on the path of accelerating ECD services for the children of marginalized communities by scaling up in partnership with the government and other players in civil society.

Mobile Creches plans to initiate a crèche programme in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, The initial phase will be implemented in Etapalli or Chamorshi block, with potential scale-up to additional blocks. The programme will cater to children aged 7 months to 3 years. The crèche centres will provide integrated services covering nutrition, health and hygiene, safety and protection, and early stimulation to support holistic child development, while also facilitating families’ access to essential government entitlements.

Children experiencing growth faltering, underweight, or wasting will be identified at an early stage, referred to appropriate health facilities, and followed up to support recovery. The centres will place a strong emphasis on improving nutrition outcomes through enhanced feeding practices, regular growth monitoring, and strengthened coordination with government nutrition and health services.

Department- Child Care Services – Direct Operations

Designation: Trainer-- Gadchiroli District

Position Overview: The Trainer will be responsible for strengthening the capacity of frontline workers and mid-level functionaries to ensure effective and high-quality implementation of programme activities at the block level in one of the blocks, Gadchiroli district. The role will play a key part in enhancing programme quality through timely planning and delivery of training courses, on-site mentoring, centre set-up support, and continuous handholding.

Level: 4

Location: Gadchiroli District, Maharashtra (Initial implementation will begin in Dhanora Block. The position will require extensive field presence.)

Qualifications & Experience:
• Master’s degree in early childhood development (ECD) / Social Sciences / Psychology / Education (preferred).
• Knowledge of ECCE, social-emotional learning, gender, child protection, disability inclusion, and community participation.
• Proven work experience of 2–3 years in conducting training/workshops and capacity-building programmes.
• Experience in delivering trainings in both English and Hindi and local language.

Essential Requirement: The candidate must be based in one of the blocks of Gadchiroli district or be willing to relocate and must also be prepared to travel in the field for 4-5 times every week.

Age Criteria: 30to 45 years.

Job Description:

The Trainer will be responsible for strengthening the capacity of frontline workers and functionaries and ensuring quality implementation of Mobile Crèches (MC) programmes. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Training Design & Delivery:
• Plan, organise, conduct, and document pre-service and in-service trainings for frontline workers and mid-level functionaries.
• Develop training agendas, session plans, syllabi, and training materials, and deliver high-quality, participatory trainings.
• Address field-level challenges during trainings and provide on-the-spot problem-solving support.
• Co-develop assessment and quality assurance tools for training effectiveness and ECCE implementation.
• Prepare and share in-service training plans with departments based on collective assessments.
• Regularly upgrade and contextualise training materials and activities to enhance effectiveness.
• Support the development of modules, syllabi, ECE materials, and training resources.

2. Centre Set-Up:
• Support efficient centre set-up and provide handholding support to trainers, frontline workers, and mid-level functionaries.

3. Quality Assurance of MC Centres:
• Ensure the quality of day-care programmes through regular field visits and share updates with concerned departments.
• Provide on-site mentoring and handholding support to supervisors and crèche workers to strengthen ECD knowledge, childcare practices, and crèche management skills.

4. Training Material Management:
• Coordinate renewal and replacement of Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs).
• Ensure proper storage, maintenance of records, and management of training materials in collaboration with the Supply team.

5. Financial Management:
• Maintain accurate records of training-related expenses.
• Implement cost-saving measures and ensure timely submission of expense reports and related information.

Key Skills Required:
• Strong skills in ECE training and facilitation for frontline workers and mid-level functionaries.
• Proficiency in developing and using online and blended training materials.
• Fluency in Hindi and English and local language.
• Ability to create early childhood play materials using locally available, low-cost, and waste materials, including traditional art forms.
• Strong writing, documentation, and report-writing skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to deliver trainings both online and in-person.
• Strong training management and facilitation skills with experience in participatory training methodologies.
• Ability to motivate, build trust, and effectively engage with grassroots-level audiences.
• Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools, and techniques.
