Brief About Foundation for MSME Clusters

Established in June 2005, the Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC) www.fmc.org.in specializes in the promotion of MSMEs through cluster and value chain led development. FMC was promoted as a Registered Public Charitable Trust with the technical support of a then UNIDO Cluster Development Programme, in June 2005. It is governed by a very eminent Board of Trustees from the Government, Banks, Academia, Donor institutions and NGOs, ably led Mr. Ajay Shankar, IAS (ex-Secretary Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Govt. of India). FMC undertakes all its operations in line with its vision and mission that are given as under:

Mission: Our mission is to “Assist institutions undertake effective and inclusive cluster based local area development in developing and transition economies.

In India, FMC has worked with around 200 MSME clusters, undertaken studies/research in another 150 MSME clusters and worked with 250 Business Membership Organizations (BMOs) thus benefiting more than 100,000 MSMEs across different sectors and sizes. FMC and its experts have also provided training, handholding, and research on cluster development in 16 other countries across the globe.

Project Background: India has over 7 million artisans across 3,000+ clusters, with about 50% belonging to the textile-based craft sector. The proposed intervention aims to strengthen 4 identified handloom clusters by facilitating market orders worth ?30 Lakhs via online (e.g., My E-Haat) and offline (e.g., exhibitions, wholesale) channels. It also focuses on building capacity, linking 200 artisans with social security, and onboarding BMOs on e-marketplaces to ensure sustainable income growth.

Key Responsibilities:

1. My E-Haat Operations & Digital Onboarding:
• Support BMOs in onboarding and managing their profiles and product listings on My E-Haat and other relevant online marketplaces.
• Ensure accurate and timely uploading of products including description, pricing, inventory levels, and high-quality images.
• Coordinate with the product photography team and designers to ensure readiness of product visuals and details.
• Provide handholding to BMOs and artisans in understanding the operational features of My E-Haat and logistics processes.

2. Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain financial and non-financial documentation related to project activities, expenses, artisan onboarding, training records, social security linkage, project paper work etc
• Ensure regular and accurate recording of MoVs (Means of Verification) for all deliverables as per project plan.
• Support the Project Manager in preparing monthly and quarterly reports for HCLF and internal stakeholders.

3. Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement:
• Act as a liaison between Project Manager, Cluster SPOCs, Design & Production Executives, and BMOs for smooth coordination.
• Support logistics and documentation for cluster-level exhibitions, policy dissemination workshops, and product deliveries.
• Facilitate communication between BMOs/artisans and My E-Haat’s technical support team for problem resolution.

4. Monitoring and Quality Assurance:
• Track progress of e-marketplace sales, stock availability, and buyer queries.
• Ensure quality and consistency in online product displays as per market and My E-Haat standards.

Assist in monitoring buyer feedback and sharing insights with relevant teams for product improvements.

Skills & Competencies:
• Proficiency in online marketplace operations (e.g., product listing, inventory, customer support)
• Good knowledge of documentation, data entry, and reporting
• Good communication skills in English and Hindi
• Ability to train and handhold artisan groups in using technology
• Open for travel to clusters
• Familiarity with platforms like My E-Haat, Amazon Karigar, etc.

Qualifications & Expertise:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Rural Development, Handloom/Textiles, E-Commerce, or related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in managing e-commerce operations, artisan clusters, or NGO-led livelihoods/digital inclusion projects, MIS, data management, etc
• Experience in working with digital platforms, preferably artisan-based or e-marketplace systems.

Remuneration/ Package/ Benefits: We are equal opportunity employer.
