Position: Livelihood Expert – Sustainable Livelihoods & Just Transition
Project: Mobilizing Resources and Enhancing Access to Social Protection and Livelihood Measures for Improving the Socio-Economic Well-being of Vulnerable Communities in Coal Mine Regions of Jharkhand
Location : Jharkhand - Ramgarh/Giridih District with frequent travel to villages in project area
Duration of Contract: 1 Year
Compensation : INR 75,000 per month (inclusive of all applicable taxes)
Report to: Manager – Climate Change and Livelihood

About the Project:
The project supports the Just Transition agenda in coal mine-affected communities by improving access to social protection, promoting climate-resilient livelihood opportunities, strengthening community institutions, and facilitating convergence with government schemes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate overall implementation of livelihood and social protection activities in project districts.
• Lead stakeholder engagement with Panchayats, State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM), District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT), line departments, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and community institutions.
• Facilitate livelihood diversification initiatives including climate smart agriculture, livestock management, Non-Timber Forest Produce (NTFP), farm/non-farm micro-enterprises, and skill development.
• Support preparation of livelihood plans, convergence / dovetail plans, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), and project activities implementation strategies.
• Supervise field teams and ensure timely delivery of project outputs.
• Conduct capacity-building programs for community institutions such as Cooperatives, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)Self-Help Groups (SHGs), farmer interest groups, and youth groups.
• Track project progress against approved work plans and milestones.
• Prepare technical reports (including progress reports), success stories, case studies, presentations, and donor updates.
• Support monitoring, learning, documentation, and policy engagement activities.
• Coordinate district and state-level workshops, consultations, and review meetings.
• Coordinate with NGO partners for successful implementation and monitoring of project activities
Required Qualifications & Experience:
• Master's degree in Rural Development, Agriculture, Social Work, Development Studies, Livelihoods, or related discipline.
• 7–10 years of professional experience in sustainable livelihoods, rural development, agriculture, natural resource management, or community development.
• Experience working with government schemes such as MGNREGS, NRLM/SRLM, DMFT, NABARD, or related programs.
• Demonstrated experience in project management, stakeholder coordination, and field team supervision.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
Desirable:
• Experience working in Jharkhand.
• Understanding of Just Transition, climate resilience, and social protection systems.
• Experience with donor-funded projects (GIZ, UNDP, FCDO, NABARD, etc.).
• Knowledge of MS Office
• Knowledge of Hindi, English and local dialects
