It provides comprehensive program design and implementation solutions to companies and social organisations to address issues across cause areas; enhancing capacities in the development sector and building interventions that can be scaled. Collective Good Foundation currently houses ‘Samyak’, a health initiative set up by a team of professionals with extensive experience in the public health sector in India.
Samyak started off by setting up a pan India, multi-stakeholder collaborative (Urban Health Initiative (UHI)) 2 years back, to address urban health and nutrition challenges with a focus on urban poor and marginalized populations. UHI brings together urban practitioners, public health experts, donor agencies, government stakeholders and non-profit organisations to strengthen the urban health system in India, improving the quality of life of people and reducing existing health inequities. Priority areas of UHI includes, among other things, emerging health challenges due to climate change; wherein the Urban Health Initiative is working, under an MoU with the Govt of Uttar Pradesh to address data gaps around climate – health linkages, as well as piloting innovative models to address some of these challenges. UHI is also working in Maharashtra. About the Role
CGF is seeking a Head – Training & Institutional Capacity Building to lead the design and implementation of capacity strengthening initiatives across Samyak’s urban health programs in Maharashtra. The role will provide strategic and technical leadership for building structured, scalable training systems for frontline workers, program staff, and municipal health officials, while strengthening institutional mechanisms for continuous learning within public health systems. The role will function as a technical expert and systems coordinator, ensuring high-quality training products, institutional mechanisms, and scalable learning solutions are developed and delivered through partnerships rather than direct implementation. This role requires strong experience in training design, adult learning, and capacity building within government systems. The position is based in Mumbai and will involve close engagement with state and municipal health systems.
Key Responsibilities
Training Strategy and Design
• Provide technical oversight and strategic direction for the development of a capacity building strategy aligned with Samyak’s program priorities.
• Guide partners and program teams in conducting capacity gaps assessments across frontline workers, program staff, and municipal systems.
• Oversee and quality assure the design of training frameworks, curricula, and learning pathways for urban health programs.
• Ensure development and standardization of high quality training modules, toolkits, and learning materials.
• Ensure alignment with government guidelines and evidence-based practices.
• Advice and facilitate adoption of blended learning approaches, including digital and on-site training.
Institutional Capacity Strengthening
• Lead engagement with government stakeholders to strengthen institutional training systems and embed sustainable capacity building mechanisms. .
• Anchor strategic partnerships with state training institutes, public health institutions, and partners to institutionalize training processes.
• Promote systems for continuous professional development within urban health programs.
• Enable and monitor multi-city rollout of training programs by government and partner agencies..
• Establish quality assurance frameworks, performance benchmarks, and monitoring systems to ensure consistency, and effectiveness of training delivery..
• Coordinate with program teams, trainers, and government stakeholders.
Learning and Program Integration
• Advise program teams and partners on integrating field learning, evidence, and data insights into training design and delivery.
• Facilitate structured knowledge flows between research, MEL, and community teams to integrate real-time learning into training content.
Qualifications and Experience
• Postgraduate degree in Public Health, Education, Development Studies, Public Policy, or related fields.
• 8–12 years of experience in training, capacity building, or health systems strengthening.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing training programs in public systems.
• Experience working with government health programs or municipal systems preferred.
• Knowledge of the government's training platforms and training modules of various health programs is desirable.
• Experience of designing any Government's health training module (any cadre) or its roll-out would be an added advantage.
• Fluency in Marathi, including the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
