About CSD
Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD) is a non-profit organization registered in 2009 under the Tamil Nadu Society Registration Act. CSD works in the areas of Eco-San sanitation, DEWATS (Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Systems), afforestation and biodiversity conservation, water access in schools and villages, and organic farming, in partnership with government bodies (DRDA-Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu Government), corporates (Hyundai Motor India Foundation), and international agencies (Sanitation First UK/India).
Position Summary
CSD is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of CSD's development projects across sanitation, water, afforestation, and livelihood/CSR-funded initiatives. The Project Manager will oversee field teams, manage donor and government relationships, ensure quality reporting, and drive projects to successful, measurable outcomes.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW), Rural Development, Environmental Science, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in project management within the CSR, NGO, or development sector.
- Excellent communication skills in Tamil and English (mandatory).
- Working knowledge of Hindi will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of report preparation, documentation, and donor/government compliance requirements.
- Prior experience in sanitation, water/WASH, environment, or livelihood projects preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic project management/MIS tools.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel extensively within Cuddalore district.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end planning, budgeting, and implementation of CSD projects (e.g., Eco-San toilets, DEWATS, green belt/afforestation drives, school and village water facilities, organic farming programs).
- Develop project work plans, timelines, and resource allocation in line with donor agreements and organizational goals.
- Ensure project activities are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Supervise and mentor field staff, project incharges, and community mobilizers.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor progress, address bottlenecks, and ensure adherence to technical standards.
- Build capacity of team members through training and on-the-job guidance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with donors, CSR partners (e.g., Hyundai Motor India Foundation), government departments (DRDA, District Administration), and international partners.
- Represent CSD in meetings, review sessions, and public forums with government and corporate stakeholders.
- Coordinate with village panchayats, school authorities, and community groups for smooth project execution.
- Design and maintain monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks to track project outputs and outcomes.
- Prepare timely, high-quality progress reports, financial utilization reports, and donor reports.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, and case studies for audits, evaluations, and proposal development.
- Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure adherence to donor financial guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, legal, and organizational policies (FCRA, society regulations, etc., where applicable).
- Support the Founder/Director in identifying new funding opportunities and drafting project proposals.
- Contribute to organizational strategy, annual planning, and new program design.
