Overview:
The General Manager – Program Development & Outreach holds a central position in establishing connections with hospitals, evaluating requirements for new and existing centres, representing Access Life at national and international platforms, fostering collaborations with Home Away from Home (HAH) facilities, raising awareness, strengthening partnerships, and maintaining effective reporting mechanisms.
A. Hospital Engagement and Networking:
• Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with Medical Social Workers (MSWs), healthcare professionals, treating doctors, and hospital directors.
• Coordinate with hospital personnel for strategic events and initiatives.
• Actively participate in meetings and events focused on childhood cancer awareness.
B. Need Assessment and Expansion:
• Conduct comprehensive needs assessments across diverse Indian cities to identify potential locations for new Access Life centres.
• Evaluate the performance and impact of existing centres, making informed decisions regarding expansion or closure as necessary.
C. National and International Representation:
• Participate in leading paediatric cancer forums and associations, advocating strongly for Access Life's mission.
• Represent Access Life at national and international platforms, showcasing the organization's initiatives and achievements.
• Prepare and deliver abstracts and presentations, at relevant conferences and symposiums.
• Foster meaningful relationships with key stakeholders within the childhood cancer community.
D. Home Away from Home (HAH) Collaborations:
o Compile a comprehensive database of Home Away from Home (HAH) facilities across India, fostering collaboration opportunities.
o Establish and nurture partnerships with HAHs to enhance mutual support and resource sharing.
o Incorporate visits to local HAHs into official international travel itineraries, facilitating knowledge exchange and networking.
E. Awards and Recognition:
• Identify and nominate Access Life for awards and recognition within the childhood cancer sphere.
F. Awareness and Public Relations:
• Manage the development and distribution of content for international newsletters, blogs, and magazines, aimed at increasing awareness of childhood cancer.
• Spearhead initiatives to illuminate monuments in support of childhood cancer awareness.
G. Reporting:
• Develop and distribute quarterly newsletters showcasing organizational achievements.
• Compile quarterly newsletters into an annual report highlighting Access Life's progress and impact.
• Provide detailed monthly reports encompassing all aspects of the job description.
H. Capacity Building:
• Enroll in relevant training and capacity-building programs offered by both Indian and international organizations.
I. Strategic Operations Management and Hospital Engagement:
• Monitor the occupancy rates of Access Life centres, promptly engaging with the
• Operations team if occupancy falls below 50%.
• Utilize personal hospital network to explore opportunities for increasing center occupancy.
• Collaborate with the Operations team to devise and implement strategies to optimize center utilization and address any underlying issues contributing to low occupancy.
