Jagran Pehel started its operation in 2002 with a strong presence in the Hindi heartland of the country and across Jagran footprints (namely Bihar, UP, Jharkhand, Punjab, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, etc.)

Project Background:
Reckitt, in collaboration with Jagran Pehel, has championed three transformative projects to address critical health and sanitation challenges in India. The Harpic World Toilet College, a flagship initiative, focuses on rehabilitating and empowering sanitation workers while eradicating manual scavenging. Concurrently, the Diarrhoea Net Zero program targets under-5 mortalities by addressing diarrhoeal diseases, with a specific focus on high-burden states like Uttar Pradesh & Bihar. Complementing these efforts, the Dettol School Hygiene Education Initiative, developed in partnership with Jagran Pehel, instils essential cleanliness habits and knowledge among youth for a healthier future. Through this partnership, Reckitt and Jagran Pehel are driving impactful change, improving the well-being and quality of life for communities across India.

Project Background: Dettol School Hygiene Education Initiative
In 2016, as part of Reckitt's dedication to fostering a cleaner and healthier India, the Dettol Banega Swasth India campaign embarked on a pivotal mission. Recognizing the crucial role of education in promoting hygiene and sanitation, the campaign initiated the development of a comprehensive Swachh (cleanliness) or Hygiene Curriculum tailored for schoolchildren.
The primary objective of this curriculum was multifaceted. It aimed not only to impart knowledge about the significance of cleanliness but also to instil healthy habits and practices among young minds. By nurturing an understanding of hygiene from an early age, the initiative sought to contribute significantly to India's aspiration of achieving Swasth (healthy) and Swachh (clean) status.
Aligned with Reckitt's overarching commitment to public health, the Dettol School Hygiene Education Initiative emerged as a beacon of transformative education. Through engaging and interactive learning modules, the curriculum aimed to empower children with the knowledge and skills necessary to uphold cleanliness standards in their daily lives. By nurturing a generation of hygiene-conscious individuals, the initiative envisioned a future where health and cleanliness thrive hand in hand, enriching communities and safeguarding the well-being of all.
Project Purpose - School Hygiene Education Curriculum:
The programme hopes to inculcate best hygiene and sanitation practices amount children by improved knowing and positive attitude in children of Schools, Madrasas, Gurukuls and other institutes of reach to children. The curriculum has 45 lessons through which Dettol Banega Swasth India hopes to inculcate hygienic habits. The curriculum has been collated in a very simplistic fashion in English, Hindi, and Telegu, to widen its reach across India. It is basically a step-by-step guide for children to keep themselves healthy and active. For easy comprehension, it has been divided into five strands – Personal Hygiene, Hygiene at Home, Hygiene at School, Hygiene during Illness, and Hygiene in Neighbourhood.
1. Embed Hygiene into Daily School Life
• Integrate hygiene practices into the school's daily routine.
• Encourage consistent hand washing, sanitation, and healthy hygiene habits among students and staff.
• Conduct regular monitoring to ensure hygiene standards are maintained.
• Coordinate with school authorities to promote a clean, safe, and healthy school environment.
2. Implement Curriculum, Experiential & Digital Learning
• Deliver and facilitate H-Bala curriculum sessions in alignment with program objectives.
• Organize engaging experiential learning activities that reinforce hygiene and health concepts.
• Support the effective use of digital learning tools and educational resources.
• Ensure students actively participate in classroom and hands-on learning experiences.
3. Build a Sustainable Behavior Change Ecosystem
• Encourage long-term adoption of healthy hygiene behaviors among students.
• Engage teachers, school leadership, parents, and student champions to strengthen program ownership.
• Organize awareness campaigns, school activities, and community engagement initiatives.
• Track behavior change indicators and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
4. Daily Reporting & Documentation
• Submit accurate daily reports on program implementation and activities.
• Maintain records of attendance, sessions conducted, student participation, and observations.
• Report challenges, successes, and action points to the program management team.
• Ensure timely documentation and compliance with reporting requirements.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent coordination and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience in school programs, education, or community development is preferred.
• Ability to facilitate interactive learning sessions.
• Good organizational and reporting skills.
• Basic proficiency in digital tools and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
• Passion for child development, hygiene promotion, and behavior change.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field.
• Prior experience working with schools, NGOs, or education programs is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel to assigned schools as required.
Working Conditions
This position will require extensive travel to several Block/Districts/states regularly.
