About the Project:

India with an estimated 2.8 million incident TB cases and 315,000 deaths in 2023 is the highest TB burden country in the world. India’s National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) has set ambitious targets to reduce the TB incidence rate by 80% and the number of TB deaths by 90% by the year 2025 relative to 2015.

With a TB prevalence of 747 per lakh and prevalence of TB Infection of 61% (57– 65%), Delhi has the highest burden of TB in India. The National TB Prevalence Survey, 2019, has revealed that, in Delhi, a majority of 69% did not seek care for their TB symptoms.

The union has been implementing community-based screening (ACF) in Delhi focusing on early case finding across multiple slums and vulnerable population of Delhi in 6 NTEP districts (Narela, BJRM, Nehru Nagar, Shastri Park, Karawal Nagar and Moti Nagar).
