Request for Proposal (RFP):
Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India) is hiring a consulting agency to conduct an impact study in one of its project region Dangs (Gujarat). The proposed Impact study will be conducted for the project titled “Impact of Solar Lift Irrigation Systems (Solar LIS)”. Objective of this study is to evaluate the impact created through Solar Lift Irrigation Systems (Solar LIS) among farmers.
 
Project Background:
The proposed study will be conducted under the project titled " Impact of Solar Lift Irrigation Systems (Solar LIS)”. This project focuses on promotion of Solar Lift Irrigation Systems (Solar LIS) in Dang district of Gujarat to improve access to reliable irrigation among small and marginal farmers and strengthen agricultural livelihoods.
 
Scope of studies:
The selected agency is expected to collect both qualitative and quantitative type of data, and the sample size should represent of all levels of Solar LIS. It is expected that the agency should develop overall design of the study which include questionnaire preparation, sampling, data collection, data entry, data analysis and report writing.
 
Key area to focus:
  • To assess the extent to which Solar LIS has increased access to irrigation and irrigated areas.
  • To understand changes in cultivated areas and cultivation during Rabi and Zaid seasons.
  • To assess changes in agricultural production, crop diversification and household income.
  • To understand the contribution of improved irrigation to reduced seasonal migration.
  • To assess changes in household dietary diversity and food security.
  • To understand changes in investment in productive/household assets and children's education.
  • To document farmers' experiences, benefits and challenges related to Solar LIS.
