About Ek Prayas Program
Ek Prayas – Early Intervention Resource Centre provides assessment, therapy, educational support, parent counselling, and early intervention services to children with developmental delays and disabilities. The programme focuses on improving children’s communication, functional abilities, learning, participation, and overall development through a family-centred approach.
Purpose of the Position
The Speech Therapist will provide assessment and intervention for children with speech, language, communication, and related feeding/swallowing difficulties, while working closely with parents, special educators, physiotherapists, and other professionals.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct speech, language, communication, and functional assessments of children.
• Develop and implement individualised speech and language intervention plans.
• Provide individual and group therapy sessions based on children’s needs.
• Work with children having cerebral palsy, autism, intellectual disability, developmental delays, and other communication difficulties.
• Support development of functional communication, including appropriate AAC/assistive communication strategies where required.
• Guide parents/caregivers on home-based speech and communication activities.
• Coordinate with the Special Educator, Physiotherapist, Centre Head, and other team members for holistic intervention.
• Maintain child-wise therapy records, progress notes, attendance, and assessment reports.
• Monitor and document children’s progress and participate in IEP/IIP review meetings.
• Participate in parent training, awareness activities, and community/field visits as required.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP/MASLP) from a recognised institution.
• Valid RCI registration is preferred/required as applicable.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience working with children with disabilities or developmental delays will be preferred.
• Freshers with strong clinical/field exposure may also be considered.
Key Competencies
• Good clinical assessment and intervention skills.
• Patient and child-friendly approach.
• Ability to work effectively with families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Good documentation and communication skills.
• Willingness to work in a community-based/early-intervention setting.
• Basic knowledge of AAC and assistive communication technologies will be an advantage.
