Job Summary
SPARC-India is looking for a responsible and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to support the finance and accounts function of the organization. The selected candidate will assist in maintaining day-to-day accounting records, preparing vouchers, recording financial transactions, maintaining cash and bank records, verifying bills and supporting documents, and assisting with financial reporting and statutory compliance.
The candidate should have good knowledge of basic accounting, Tally/Tally Prime, MS Excel, and financial documentation, along with a high level of accuracy and integrity.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Data Entry
• Assist in maintaining day-to-day books of accounts.
• Record receipts, payments, expenses, journal entries, and other financial transactions.
• Enter accounting transactions accurately in Tally/Tally Prime.
• Prepare and maintain payment, receipt, journal, and other accounting vouchers.
• Maintain cash book, bank book, ledgers, and other financial records.
• Assist in bank reconciliation and checking of bank transactions.
• Ensure that all accounting entries are supported by appropriate documents.
Bills & Financial Documentation
• Check bills, invoices, payment requests, and supporting documents for completeness.
• Maintain systematic records and files of bills, vouchers, receipts, and other financial documents.
• Assist in processing payments and maintaining payment records.
• Follow the organization’s financial procedures and approval processes.
• Coordinate with programme and administrative staff for collection of financial documents.
Project & Donor Support
• Assist in maintaining project-wise income and expenditure records.
• Support the preparation of project expenditure statements and financial MIS.
• Assist in tracking expenditure against approved budgets.
• Help compile supporting documents required for donor reporting and audits.
• Ensure proper documentation of project-related expenses.
Compliance & Audit Support
• Assist in maintaining records related to TDS, GST, PF/ESI and other applicable statutory requirements.
• Support the Accounts/Finance team during internal and statutory audits.
• Provide financial documents and supporting records as required for audit and reporting purposes.
• Assist in maintaining audit-related files and documentation.
General Responsibilities
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and organizational information.
• Ensure accuracy and timely completion of assigned accounting tasks.
• Assist the senior accounts/finance personnel in preparing financial reports and statements.
• Coordinate with banks, vendors, and other stakeholders when required.
• Perform other accounting and finance-related duties assigned by the management.
Required Qualifications
• B.Com / Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
• Working knowledge of Tally/Tally Prime and MS Excel.
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Knowledge of financial documentation and bookkeeping.
• Experience in an NGO/non-profit organization will be an advantage.

Preferred Experience
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:
• NGO / Non-profit organization accounting.
• CSR-funded or donor-funded projects.
• Tally Prime and MS Excel.
• Project-wise accounting and expenditure tracking.
• Audit preparation and financial documentation.
• Basic statutory compliance and taxation-related documentation.
