About the Organisation - MSSI
Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI) is a registered non-profit organization that was established in 1985, to serve Persons afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis (PwMS), caregivers and their family at large. With 9 chapters (Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune & Trivandrum) and 3500 registered members, MSSI works to improve the quality of life of persons with MS, providing services such as Medicine support, Home Nursing care, Physiotherapy, Scholarship etc. MSSI is also advocating for the Rights and entitlement of PwMS at the State and National level.
About Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple Sclerosis (MS), recognized as a disability in India for the first time under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016, is a debilitating degenerative disorder of the central nervous system. Presently incurable, MS usually manifests during the prime of life in women and men, its prevalence in women being twice that of men. In India, roughly 145,800 people are estimated to have MS (source MS Atlas). The number may be much more because unfortunately there is no data or source to refer to for correct numbers.
About the Project
Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI) with the support of Azim Premji Foundation is implementing a 3 years project (June 2026 – May 2029) at 3 locations Nagpur, Indore, and Coimbatore. The aim of this project is to support PwMS (Persons living with Multiple Sclerosis) with direct medical interventions and advocate for their rights and entitlements to improve their quality of life.
Job Description
Role and Responsibilities of the Project Officer - Nagpur
• Identify new PwMS in Nagpur through extensive outreach to Hospitals/Clinics/CRC/DDRC/NGOs etc. to increase the enrolment.
• Maintain individual beneficiary files with complete beneficiary records and update on regular basis in hard and soft copies.
• Mapping and listing of PwMS at Nagpur for medicine, Physiotherapy support and assessment of most needy individual cases with the support of Chapter.
• Collection of Nagpur patient’s bills for medicine and physiotherapy support and submit the monthly summary sheets for payments.
• Develop a monthly/quarterly calendar of home visits by the physiotherapists and ensure PwMS are receiving physiotherapy support as per the schedule.
• Develop high-quality donor reports, case stories, and submissions within the set timelines. Create and manage periodic reporting of project execution status and other trackers.
• Support in developing the overall strategy related to ongoing project in consultation with the Project Manager/Project Director.
• Attend regular weekly/monthly meetings to discuss project progress, address project issues, and escalate complex issues to appropriate levels.
• Visit Primary Health Centres/Community Health Centres/District hospitals for MS awareness, networking and referrals.
• Assessment of beneficiaries to understand the requirement of individual cases through home visits. Present the individual cases with their requirements to the Project Manager and the Project Director for project activity support.
• Conduct one to one to group sessions with the beneficiaries on the benefits of UDID card and supporting in online application.
• Organize regular workshops for the beneficiaries and the stakeholders as per the project implementation plan.
• Sensitize the Govt. officials/Depts, and NGOs on Multiple Sclerosis at Nagpur.
• Develop working relationship with healthcare professionals including Neurologists.
• Distribution and Display of IEC material at health facilities at the project locations for mass awareness of MS.
• Any other responsibility assigned by the Project Manager/Project Director.
Location: Nagpur, Maharashtra
Education/Experience:
• Qualification in the relevant field
• At least 2-3 years of relevant experience in implementing Disability, Health, or similar projects.
Travel Requirement:
Extensive local travel (up to 50%) is required in Nagpur region. Candidates having their own two-wheeler and a valid driving license will be preferred.
Remuneration: Around INR 30,000 per month (The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history)
