Job Description- HR Manager
About the Organization:
Mahila Housing Trust (MHT) was founded as a Public Charitable Trust in 1994 and is based in Ahmedabad. It works on habitat improvement & development in urban slums through building knowledge, skills and confidence of women resident in these communities. As of date, it is present in 700-plus slums across 10 cities of India and employs around 80 people who work along-side a similar number of women it has trained in these slums. Our growing body of work, capacity on the ground and accompanying learning requires a dynamic professional.
Major Roles and Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition :
• Workforce planning, building a strong employer brand, and nurturing a steady pipeline of future employee requirements.
• Reviewing current staff and predicting future skill needs.
• Finding active and passive job seekers through social media, employee referrals, and professional events.
• Manage recruitment cycles for core, project-based, field, and consultant roles.
• Oversee candidate sourcing, interviewing, and background checks.
• Tracking metrics like time-to-hire and quality-of-hire to improve future hiring
Onboarding:
• Lead onboarding to orient new hires on the organization's mission, ethics, and field policies.
• Teaching new hires, the basic rules, legal policies, safety procedures, and required paperwork.
• Ensuring employees fully understand their specific job duties, expectations, and performance goals.
• Introducing the company’s core values and daily workplace norms.
• Building early relationships with team members, peers, and managers to create a sense of belonging.
• Providing the training, tools, and support needed so new hires feel secure and capable in their role
Employee Relations :
• Assisting in the development and implementation of employee relations programs and initiatives to improve workplace culture and engagement.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver training programs on HR policies, compliance, and conflict resolution.
• Handle employee grievances, disciplinary proceedings, and conflict resolution across all offices.
• Drive staff retention and employee engagement strategies.
Performance Management & Staff Development:
• Providing training and guidance to managers and employees on performance management processes, including goal setting and performance reviews
• Monitoring the effectiveness of performance management programs and making adjustments as necessary
• Working with managers to address performance issues and develop performance improvement plans
• Facilitating communication between employees and managers to ensure clear expectations and understanding of performance goals
• Providing coaching and feedback to employees to improve performance
• Identify training needs and organize capacity-building programs for both office and ground teams.
• Collaborating with HR to align performance management with compensation, succession planning, and employee development initiatives
• Conducting analysis and reporting on performance data to inform decision-making
Location:
This is a full-time position based at Ahmedabad.
The role requires 8 to 10 days planned travel within India.
She should be committed to serving her contracts and commitments while working at MHT.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Human Resources, Social Work (MSW), Business Administration (MBA), or a related discipline.
Experience:
7 to 10 years of progressive HR experience; experience in the Indian social impact or NGO sector or Service sector is preferred.
Skills required:
• Proficiency in English and local regional languages (written and spoken).
• Sensitivity to social, cultural, and gender diversity in non-profit operations.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to address employee grievances and
resolve issues effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with employees and management.
• Hands-on experience with employee interactions & grievance management.
• Microsoft Office and HR software
Remuneration:
Remuneration will be based on the qualifications & experience of the applicant. Please mention your current CTC and the applicable Notice period in your application.
