Position Overview
The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, maintaining accurate accounts, supporting project financial management, and ensuring compliance with organizational financial policies and donor guidelines.
The position will support the finance team in maintaining transparent accounting systems, timely financial reporting, and proper documentation of financial transactions related to project activities.
The Accountant will work closely with the Finance team, Program teams, and management to ensure smooth financial operations and compliance with statutory and donor requirements.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Financial Management
• Maintain books of accounts and record daily financial transactions.
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of vouchers, bills, and financial records.
• Assist in preparing project-wise budgets and tracking expenditures.
2. Accounting & Bookkeeping
• Enter financial data in accounting software and maintain accurate records.
• Prepare payment vouchers, receipts, and supporting documents.
• Maintain cash book, bank book, and ledger records.
3. Budget Monitoring
• Track project expenditures against approved budgets.
• Support program teams in financial planning and budget utilization.
• Provide financial information for management review and decision-making.
4. Compliance & Documentation
• Ensure compliance with organizational financial policies and donor guidelines.
• Maintain proper financial documentation for internal and external audits.
• Support statutory compliance such as TDS, GST, and other applicable regulations.
5. Financial Reporting
• Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Provide financial data required for donor reporting and project reviews.
• Prepare bank reconciliation statements and assist in financial analysis.
6. Coordination & Support
• Coordinate with program teams for financial documentation of project activities.
• Support finance team during audits and financial reviews.
• Ensure timely processing of payments, reimbursements, and advances.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related fields.
• 2–5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in the development sector.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (such as Tally).
• Knowledge of financial documentation, budgeting, and compliance procedures.
• Good analytical and documentation skills.
• Fluency in Hindi and basic working knowledge of English.
Remuneration
Samarthan offers renewable contractual employment. Compensation and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and role responsibilities within the development sector. The Cost to Organization (CTO) will be decided based on experience and suitability.
