The Foundation for Medical Research (FMR), a Public Trust and a well-recognized national research organization (SIRO) conducts basic biomedical, translational and public health research in the areas of infectious disease, environmental and community health. The Foundation invites applications for the following vacancy for an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-funded extramural project “Evaluating Diagnostic Performance of SMaRT-PCR – a novel, non-invasive diagnostic workflow for detecting pulmonary tuberculosis in children”

Essential Qualification and Experience:
1.PhD or a Master’s degree in public health or social sciences with a minimum of 5 years of experience
2. Experience in qualitative and mixed method research with good publication track record
3. Good writing skills
4. Good analytical capacity
5. Experience in working with biosocial project including tuberculosis
6. Ability to communicate in Marathi and Hindi

Base of work: Mumbai with extensive pan-India travel involved

Scope of Work:
• Record and assess the operational challenges in implementing novel diagnostic workflow through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions.
• Prepare tools, surveys questionnaires and evaluation framework for assessing operational challenges.
• Collate and analyse the qualitative data from the interviews and focus group discussions.
• Conduct scoping visits as directed by study investigators to map health facilities at selected rural and validation sites to identify potential sample collection sites.
• Support sensitization workshops for clinicians and healthcare staff for their involvement in the project
• Contribute to writing scientific papers for publication.
• Support any other work related to the project or other scientific/technical activities

Duration: Initially for a period of one year extendable for further project period subject to satisfactory performance of the candidate
