Economist – Job Summary
The Economist is responsible for writing methodologies for proposals, conducting economic research, analysing market and economic trends, developing forecasts, and providing data-driven recommendations to support strategic and policy decisions. The role involves interpreting economic data, evaluating policies, preparing reports, and communicating insights to stakeholders.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Write methodologies for proposals
  • Conduct economic research and data analysis.
  • Monitor and assess economic, market, and industry trends.
  • Develop economic forecasts and analytical models.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and policy briefs.
  • Provide recommendations to support business or policy decisions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Economics
  • 2-8 years of experience in methodology writing, economic research, forecasting, and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in working with AI tools and analytical tools such as R, Python, Stata, or EViews.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience with projects funded by:
  1. World Bank
  2. Asian Development Bank (ADB)
  3. African Development Bank (AfDB)
  4. IFC
  5. UN Agencies
  6. FCDO
  7. GIZ
  8. European Union
  9. Other international development partners
Key Competencies:
  • Methodology and report writing
  • Economic and statistical analysis
  • Forecasting and modelling
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Report writing and presentation skills
  • Attention to detail and stakeholder management
This role supports proposal writing, and work on live projects.
