TITLE: Field Facilitator
SALARY RANGE: INR 22,000 to INR 25,000

POSITION OBJECTIVE or JOB SUMMARY:
The Field Facilitator will support community mobilisation, strengthen SHGs and local institutions, and drive behaviour change initiatives related to Solid Waste Management (SWM) and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) of WASH infrastructure. The role involves conducting awareness activities, facilitating community participation, supporting field implementation, and ensuring sustainable community ownership through regular monitoring, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
1. Community Mobilisation & Institution Strengthening
• Mobilise and engage SHGs, community groups, and local institutions
• Strengthen SHG capacity on leadership, participation, and governance
• Facilitate regular group meetings and community platforms
• Build linkages with PRI members and local stakeholders
2. Behaviour Change Communication (BCC)
• Design and implement IEC/BCC activities on
• Solid Waste Management (segregation, disposal, recycling)
• O&M of WASH infrastructure
• Conduct:
o Village meetings
o Awareness campaigns
o Household-level counselling
• Use participatory tools for behaviour change
3. Solid Waste Management (SWM) Promotion
• Promote segregation at source and safe disposal practices
• Support establishment of community-level SWM systems
• Facilitate SHG involvement in waste management initiatives
• Encourage adoption of sustainable practices
4. Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Support
• Build community awareness on O&M of water and sanitation systems
• Train user groups on:
o Maintenance practices
o Roles and responsibilities
• Promote community-led monitoring and ownership
5. Project Implementation Support
• Support field-level implementation of project activities
• Ensure community participation in all interventions
• Field monitoring for the Hardware work
• Identify local issues and provide feedback to project team
6. Monitoring, Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain records of:
o Community meetings
o SHG activities
o BCC sessions
• Track behaviour change indicators
• Submit regular field reports and updates
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Rural Development, Sociology, or related field
•1+ years of experience in:
a) Community mobilisation
b) SHG strengthening
c) WASH / SWM / behaviour change projects
• Experience in rural/community-based projects preferred
•Strong communication and facilitation skills
•Experience in BCC/IEC implementation
•Ability to engage with rural communities
• Basic documentation and reporting skills
•Local language proficiency preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Ability or option to travel up to 80% of the time domestically
• This position works primarily in the field and the communities in the surrounding area
• Candidates must have legal authorization to work and reside in India. Proof of residency or work authorization will be requested during the recruitment process.
