Key Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
Serve as a technical resource to the Regional Director, Country Directors, Regional & Country Programme staff, and Country MHPSS teams for evaluating and assessing new and existing MHPSS projects.
Plan and implement training, coaching, and supervision to strengthen the capacities of MHPSS teams.
Support MHPSS focal points in meetings with government authorities, specialized institutions, MHPSS service providers, communities, and other stakeholders by providing technical expertise and implementation support.
Stay updated on MHPSS, protection, and humanitarian best practices and actively participate in coordination meetings.
Network with key external stakeholders to strengthen referral pathways.
Support recruitment of MHPSS staff at project and country levels while ensuring adherence to the "Do No Harm" principle.
Planning
Define regional MHPSS strategies and priority actions under the guidance of the JRS USA MHPSS Director and in coordination with the Regional Director and Regional Programmes staff.
Provide technical support during annual project reviews and planning in line with regional, international, and emergency MHPSS standards.
Lead and manage regional MHPSS needs assessments for new project locations.
Provide technical guidance for ongoing evaluations and needs assessments of existing MHPSS projects.
Develop technical inputs for project proposals incorporating MHPSS outcomes and activities.
Propose innovative strategies and interventions to address emerging MHPSS needs across the region.
Supporting Project Implementation
Coordinate actions to ensure implementation of global and regional MHPSS strategic priorities.
Ensure projects have adequate resources, tools, materials, and knowledge for effective monitoring and evaluation.
Promote integration of MHPSS into other JRS core sectors to improve cross-sectoral outcomes.
Strengthen support for vulnerable young people and families by developing referral networks with medical, psychosocial, and educational stakeholders.
Build the capacity of JRS teams through:
Drafting technical guidance documents.
Conducting contextualized MHPSS skills-based training.
Identifying external experts where required.
Providing post-training coaching and supervision.
Coordinate with regional MHPSS actors to facilitate information sharing, technical support, advocacy, and collaboration with local authorities.
Reporting
Visit JRS MHPSS projects and monitor implementation progress.
Submit monthly activity reports to the MHPSS Director (USA Office) and the regional team.
Develop tools to measure project quality and impact.
Collaborate with Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) teams to strengthen MHPSS reporting systems.
Undertake additional responsibilities assigned by the MHPSS Director – JRS USA.

Qualifications
Advanced degree in Psychology or Social Work.
Additional qualifications or certifications in Mental Health in Humanitarian Settings are an advantage.
Experience in Case Management and Supervision is desirable.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 2 years of field experience in humanitarian settings with MHPSS programming.
Experience in:
MHPSS programme development.
Relationship management.
Capacity building.
Needs assessments.
Case management.
Conflict mediation.
Basic counselling.
Monitoring and evaluation.
Experience supporting individuals with complex needs and children through appropriate referral mechanisms.
Strong understanding of:
Social work practices.
Protection programming.
Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
Child Protection.
Safeguarding.
Knowledge of Emergency Assistance, Education, Livelihoods, Protection, and Reconciliation is desirable.
Experience applying IASC MHPSS Guidelines and international best practices.
Demonstrated experience working in multicultural environments.
Experience in advocacy with international, regional, and national stakeholders.
Skills
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
Knowledge of humanitarian contexts, actors, and systems within South Asia.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Knowledge of Hindi and other local languages is an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel).
Ability to work effectively in resource-constrained and dynamic environments.
Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural communication, planning, and organizational skills.
