Position Summary
SwitchON Foundation is seeking a dynamic and field-driven Sales & Business Development Manager to support bulk sales of agricultural output commodities and strengthen market linkages through Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).
This role is extensively field-oriented and focuses on building strong buyer networks, executing large-volume commodity sales, and coordinating closely with FPOs to ensure steady supply and timely fulfillment. The position requires extensive travel, strong negotiation skills, and hands-on experience in selling agricultural produce such as paddy, oilseeds, vegetables, pulses, edible oils, and spices.
The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator, comfortable engaging with buyers, farmers, and FPO leaders, and capable of driving sales volumes while maintaining trust-based relationships across the value chain.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Market Development
- Willingness to travel for field visits, buyer meetings, and events.
- Build, expand, and actively manage a strong buyer network for bulk
- agri-commodity sales for Farmers Producer Companies.
- Coordinate with FPOs on product availability, quantity, quality specifications, and
- pricing.
FPO Coordination & Supply Management
- Ensure timely communication between internal teams, buyers, and FPOs.
- Align procurement, aggregation, and dispatch planning with FPO leadership and field teams.
- Support branding, packaging, and compliance-related activities for FPO products.
- Coordinate with FPOs on product availability, quantity, quality specifications, and pricing.
Business Promotion & Field Engagement
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders including farmers, FPO staff, buyers, and logistics partners.
- Support market linkage initiatives and buyer–producer connect activities.
- Assist in negotiation support, sample sharing, and buyer communication.
- Collect market intelligence on prices, demand trends, and competitor activities.
- Support signing of MOU/ Contract between FPO and buyers.
Reporting & Coordination
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Maintain basic sales records and share regular updates with the internal team.
- Coordinate with program and field teams to align sales targets with production cycles.
- Strong coordination, follow-up, and communication skills.
Qualifications
Mandatory
- Proven experience in core field sales, preferably in agriculture or
- agri-commodities with FPOs/ FPCs
- Demonstrated ability to handle bulk sales volumes and buyer negotiations.
Education
- Graduate in any discipline; background in Agriculture will be preferred.
Language
- Fluency in spoken English, Hindi, and Marathi is mandatory.
Other Requirements
- Basic understanding of agri and food commodity markets.
- High energy and willingness to travel extensively for sales purposes.
- Ability to build long-term buyer relationships and close large-value deals.
- Comfortable working in field-intensive and target-driven environments.
Compensation
Monthly remuneration of Rs.50,000 – Rs.60,000, depending on experience and sales capability.
Reporting To Project Manager
Travel Requirements
- Extensive and continuous travel required for sales and market development activities.
