Primary Role
Reporting directly to the Head – Finance, the Assistant Manager – Finance will be responsible for supporting the core finance function. The role encompasses end-to-end management of financial operations, maintaining robust internal controls, ensuring statutory and donor compliance (including FCRA), and facilitating seamless audit processes. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial record-keeping, timely disbursements, and robust data support for donor financial reporting within the development sector.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Financial Operations & Accounting
•Maintain accurate books of accounts on an accrual basis in QuickBooks and Tally, ensuring all transactions align with Indian Accounting Standards.
•Process and monitor all cash/bank payments to vendors, consultants, and employees. Ensure all transactions are authorized, documented, and executed within timelines.
•Prepare monthly bank, ledger, advance, accrual, and inter-project reconciliations. Investigate and promptly resolve outstanding reconciling items.
•Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register quarterly, ensuring proper tracking, capitalization, depreciation, and disposal.
•Prepare monthly cash flow statements and forecasts in coordination with the Head – Finance.

2. Statutory Compliance, Taxation & Audits
• Assist the Head – Finance in ensuring strict compliance with the Companies Act, Income Tax Act, FCRA, GST, and other applicable regulatory laws.
• Ensure timely deduction, accurate deposit, and return filing for statutory dues including TDS, GST, EPF, ESI, and Professional Tax.
• Coordinate and provide end-to-end support for statutory, internal, donor, and tax audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and necessary documentation.

3. Donor & Grant Management
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports, project financial statements, and donor financial reports.
• Monitor donor balances, receivables, and project expenditures to ensure efficient fund utilization and absolute compliance with grant agreements.

4. Internal Support & Advisory
• Maintain strong internal financial controls and verify bills, travel claims, and vouchers for compliance with organizational policies.
• Provide clarity and support to internal staff regarding financial policies, reimbursement processes, and basic tax/statutory questions (TDS, GST, etc.).
• Perform any other finance or procurement tasks assigned by the reporting manager as required.

Required Qualifications & Experience
• Master Degre or Post Graduate Degree in Commerce/Accounts/Finance.
• Minimum 6–8 years of experience in a similar financial role within the NGO / development sector is preferred.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Tally is highly preferred, along with advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Word. Knowledge of Zoho Books would be an added advantage.

Core Competencies & Skills
• Strong understanding of development-sector compliance, specifically FCRA, income tax exemptions, and grant-tracking systems.
• Excellent organizational skills with a proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet tight donor/statutory deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with internal staff, vendors, and banking partners.
• Demonstrated professional maturity and resourcefulness to handle sensitive, confidential financial data with absolute discretion.
• Self-directed mindset with the capability to work independently while being a collaborative team player.
