About the Program
The programme provides technical and analytical support for planning, implementation, monitoring, capacity strengthening, communication, and evidence generation. Under the guidance of MoHFW, state and in collaboration with partners and technical institutions, it strengthens programme governance, promotes data-driven decision-making, and supports progress towards national anaemia reduction targets.
About the Position
The Program Manager / National Program Officer-Nutrition will provide strategic and technical leadership to the nutrition programs including AMB Abhiyaan under the overall guidance of the Program Director – Nutrition. The position will support the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in strengthening the planning, implementation, monitoring, and scale-up of AMB Abhiyaan across priority states. The position will coordinate with government stakeholders, provide high-quality technical assistance, and develop state-specific implementation roadmaps to ensure effective program execution and achievement of nutrition outcomes
Roles and Responsibilities
• Lead nutrition program activities under the overall guidance of Director Nutrition.
• Provide seamless technical assistance support to MoHFW. and states.
• Lead and develop state specific roadmap for implementation of AMB Abhiyaan for prioritized States.
• Represent as technical resource for nutrition and AMB Abhiyaan in various stakeholder meetings, technical consultations, review meetings etc
• Regular interface and effective coordination with Development Partners, and other potential stakeholders
• Lead development and periodic update on nutrition outcomes and achieving Anemia Mukt Bharat targets
• Represent on relevant steering and advisory groups and contribute to priority setting and policy development
• Develop white paper on preconception nutrition & care, maternal nutrition, early life nutrition & other nutrition priorities and support consultation and development of national guidelines
• Support to MoHFW for undertaking rapid assessments for nutrition programs and advocacy for integration into PIP.
• Lead and support for revitalizing National Review for Nutrition Programs (NRNP) and selected State Review for Nutrition Programs (SRNP) and support and co-facilitation and co-creation of joint framework.
• Prepare the action plan for scaling up of various nutrition innovations and facilitation for implementation
• Preparation of operational guidelines, white papers, policy notes for the programs, publications/manuscripts on project innovations and specific nutrition thematic papers
Qualifications and Experience
• Required: Master’s degree in nutrition, Public Health, or a related field.
Preferred: Doctoral degree (PhD) in Nutrition, Public Health, or a related discipline.
• Required: At least 10-12 years of experience in public health and nutrition programmes, with demonstrated experience at national and/or state levels.
Preferred: Strong understanding and familiarity with large-scale public health and nutrition initiatives, including the National Health Mission (NHM) and Poshan Abhiyaan 2.0. Experience in programme strategy, implementation, monitoring, and stakeholder coordination will be an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies
•Experience of working with government agencies, donors, and preferably in the development sector
• Knowledge of MoHFW and WCD implemented nutrition programs and systems
• Engage with multidisciplinary team and provide technical program solving insights
• Proficiency in writing technical documents such as white papers, training materials and concept notes.
• Ability to work within an international program team and communicate regularly with a variety of team members including senior government officials.
• Ability to develop productive working relationships with stakeholders
• Ability to handle a variety of assignments
• Ability to multitask and work in a multi-cultural team.
• Willingness and flexibility to work on a wide range of tasks.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi.
• Strong demonstrated MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Demonstrated ability in Maternal Nutrition, Anemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
• Provide support to assigned states .
